im presently experiencing my woman go through the citizenship process and in talking to many people (mostly hispanic) doing the same, a few comments...
- the majority spends more money trying to get here illegally than it would take to file the paperwork.
- the current turnaround time is 9-12 months for full citizenship
- there is nothing so pressing that the majority would need immediate entrance.
- jobs in mexico are readily available and can sustain a homestead for the time it would take to get a green card/work visa
- its the "have to have it now", "get rich quick" mentality driven by the "allure of the american dollar", and the "sense of entitlement" that they "deserve" to live the same lives as US citizens (direct quotes from legal hispanic immigrants)
No... people deserve medical treatment no matter what.
However, instead of sending the bill to me in the form of taxes and insurance hikes, the bill should be footed by their country or their pockets.
