What is the word at the tnl meetup? Split evenly or pay for yourself?
Oh yeah, for close friends, there is no rotation, to hard to keep track of since we don't see each other enough. People just pay randomly with me for the whole bill. It seems to work out.
When I split evenly, I always try to put a bit more than tip if I'm not the one holding the bill, since that guy always gets boned.
As anything in life, it depends on who I'm with. If it's with regulars, we alternate when it comes to picking up each other's tabs. If it's with colleagues, acquaintances, cheap friends, or broke friends, we usually split the bill. There is no boilerplate ettiquette that I apply in this situation.

I prefer to just alternate the person who picks up the check - I get it this time, you get it next time. It's definitely the easiest way to do it.
When I go out with my friends we usually all just get seperate cheques - we just find it easier that way.

The reason that moment fucking ruled, was because I had just tried to get the people at our table's attention and wound up with the entire restaurant quiet, and staring at me. Then I got a standing ovation.
Waitress wound up with a huge tip as well because for the first time ever, every person had overpaid to the point where the bill was covered halfway through money collecting.
And to answer the question, we always did the everyone pitch in thing (with a few exceptions for the tightwads in the group) because there was just no way to decipher the bill.
