It makes me so sick. The Devils had some postseason promise but for some reason just couldn't beat your horrible team.
2.55 GAA is not too hot. Take games 1 and 2 from the Devils out of the picture and it gets way worse. The Devils played like shit, Lundqvist didn't play that well.

I know, it's so weird. It's really Twilight Zone, as the Rangers are the only team they couldn't really beat. And Montreal, I guess.
The Devils owned the Flyers all year, and while the Flyers got hot and have stayed hot I still would have picked the Devils over them in the postseason. Biron is playing the hockey of his life.
In the regular season. Which doesn't matter. The Rangers were 5-3 against Pittsburgh in the regular season and undefeated at home against them. The Devils don't have the talent to match up with them, either. Particularly the way Brodeur was playing.
My pre-season predictions were spot on. Rangers/Devils go out in two rounds or less and Pittsburgh moves on.
It matters more than you think.
I'm pretty sure everyone picked the Penguins to top the East. They have two of the five best players in the East on their team, and they're young, and then they did good things at the deadline, and Fleury picked up his game, so wow.
The Devils would not have beaten Pittsburgh. Not a chance. Maybe Montreal though. ESPECIALLY since Brodeur played like dogmeat. Ugh.
I'm putting this whole season behind me. It sucks we didn't get ANOTHER banner to stick up in our building but I knew it was going to suck, I just wish they didn't have to get my hopes up first. Oh and get creamed by the Rangers all year.
At the end of all this I'll probably do a prediction recap.
Well, in retrospect (not that it's completely over yet) I'd say that the Rangers biggest undoing is the fact that their Power Play has been atrocious all year and in the playoffs. That's why they lost.
Devils: They need a star. They don't have one. They need one. Despite Malkin, Jagr was the best player on the ice tonight (maybe Fleury, too).
Yeah, Jagr played a GREAT game. Gomez too, but most of all, Callahan.
The Rangers PK has really let them down in the postseason as well, so you can broaden that to special teams play. Even against the Devils' awful pp. That really fits with my analysis of the team though: weak defense, 3+ solid lines of forwards who play both ways.
