Right, so I'm off to go get me some oysters out in the Sound today (first beautiful day of the year!) and I couldn't find any threads about the outdoors here on TNL. We're such a bunch of indoor kitties!
Anyways, summer is right around the corner and I'm making plans now to do some camping and general outdoors-y fun (river rafting!).
Would love to hear what TNL does in the outdoors and about any good stories you'd like to share.

I've gone camping several times, and I've gone canoeing a ton of times.
As a kid my family did canoeing camping trips down the Delaware River twice. They were nice trips, except for the fact my Dad was really horrible at camping.
The first time we went we took the dog, not the greatest idea. The dog was freaked out, and we had two canoes and the dog kept trying to swim between them. Dog could barely swim, no less in deep river water, eventually my half-brother hit it with and oar and it stopped that.
Then we tried to get my Dad to make camp earlier in the day but he wouldn't have it. Then dusk came we were like we have to make camp a.s.a.p., the first camp site we came to though was up about 12ft straight up, there was no hill. It was fun to push the dog up that. After getting up the damn cliff it was just fucking dark. It was hard just trying to get a fire started so we could see. We borrowed two pup tents from neighbors, which at the time we didn't know that they hadn't used them in years. The one ripped, so 3 of us and the dog slept in a two man tent. My half-brother just slept in his sleeping bag over his head.
The next day wasn't so bad but I don't know why my Mom and I ever agreed to do the canoeing/camping again with my Dad.
I can't wait to return to Brokeback Mountain. I am a fan
of camping and the woods.
i went on a camping road trip a couple years ago, and on our last night all we had was spaghetti to eat and my friend dropped all the already cooked noodles in the dirt. we ate it anyway. it was festive.

I used to camp a lot, but I haven't done it in years. I've gotta try it again sometime, but it can be a pain in the ass, despite also being a lot of fun.
