Moon

I recently got Dementium: The Ward for DS. From what I have played I'm impressed with how well they pulled off a smooth running, Silent Hill-inspired FPS on the system. Obviously it's not in the same league as the best PC/console stuff but it's cool horror game to play in bed at night with earphones in.

So this is why I'm interested in Renegade Kid's next DS FPS, Moon. I'm hoping the adventure element is strong.

Dementium from what little I played seemed inspired but not
worth the high price tag.

Moon sounds a tad generic. Yeah if there's some good puzzle
elements I might like it.

I really like this concept.

It might sound strange, but I hope the majority of the game is *before* they figure out how to open the hatch. I loved the build up in season one of Lost before they managed to get in. You were forced to use your imagination and ponder the possibilities, the whats, whys and whos. Not that the reveal wasn't satisfying, but I like the not knowing part the best.

I didn't play Dementium because there are more than enough games of that type (most probably done much better) to choose from.

It looks interesting and it's nice to see a fairly competent 3D outing on the DS. I hope they focus more on the exploration and adventure portions rather than a straight up FPS. *-neo

This isn't supposed to be out, but it shipped early and I have it so maybe you can get it too.

Impressions.

Looks like something that could have come out five minutes after Dino Crisis.

Which makes it more impressive than 99.9% of other DS 3D games.

What you can't see from screenshots is the framerate. Which is a rock fucking solid 60fps. Really impressive.

I only played it for a few minutes. It's technically impressive, controls well, and seems thick on atmosphere. You have to grade on a curve since its a DS game, but seems pretty good so far.

I'm not sure if you have played Dementium but does it control the same way (touchscreen for aiming, d-pad for movement, L or R for shooting)? It cramped my hand up a lot but I guess the DS doesn't have many control options.

This game looks really cool. Anticipation building.

It's like The Conduit. Something that is pretty exceptional for the platform and genre, but maybe not so much one or the other. There are better FPS out there and better DS games, but you'd be hard pressed to find a better FPS on DS.

Unless the story is thoroughly engrossing, No Sale.

It's not. So far anyway. It's moody but nothing mind blowing.
