I just recently purchased a time share package which "should" pay for itself in about 10 years. Does anyone here vacation using this method? if so what are your experiences with time share? if not, how do you vacation? (if at all).

I don't particularly like time-shares, only because I do not want to share a house with other people. I want it to be mine.
I plan to buy a house in Puerto Rico for vacationing and visiting family when I can. I also plan to let my dad live in it since he's dying to go back but is financially unable to buy a house down there after he lost his land to the city.
I have a Hilton Grand Vacations time share which I love. It's not a typical time share, it's based on points instead of trading. So I get a certain number of points each year which I can save if I don't use them, and I can use them to stay at any Hilton or Hilton affiliate, including resorts, all over the world. Im supposed to pay it off in like 7 years, then I still get the points for life. And after that I can sell it, will to to someone, whatever. And it counts as owning property, so I get a tax write off.
Again, I love it because I do like to travel, and being able to pay for my stay now and then keep using it forever sounds good to me.
Yeah, this is similar to the one I just purchased with Wyndham (points). I realized it was a good way for me to go after I spent $1200 on my last vacation (that I will never get back). So far it seems to be very easy to use with no hassle or anything, no buyers remorse thus far.
The tax write off part makes sense, I wasn't sure I could do that... good to know.
If you tend to vacation in one place for the rest of your life I think owning the vacation home if a good plan. My parents own a time share and have gone to the same place for the last 25 years (they should have just bought a home). I plan on seeing the world with my package (ha).
Time share is stupid IMO.
Timeshares are the whitest things in the universe.
Paying too much for too little.
Timeshares are great when your friends' parents let you use it for a week for cheap.
