Doom

Just use the new engine to remake Brutal Doom. Bam, it's good to go.

The using limbs as keycards thing could be horrible. The rest sounds fine. Except naming it just Doom again, I really wish they would stop that shit. Give it a subtitle or something so we aren't saying shit like Sonic 2k6, Prince of Persia 2k8, and Tomb Raider Reboot just so that people know what the fuck we're referring to. Shit, go nuts with it. Doom: Son of Doom in Monster World.

Doom 3 is good, everyone else just sucks. Not as good as 1/2, but 1/2 are in the top 5/10 of all time, so w/e

Why do people hate on Doom 3? It wasn't perfect but it was a good game still.

I picked up Doom 3: BFG in a Steam sale last year. Still haven't found the time to play it after being unimpressed with the original Doom 3.

I don't quite get why id is so resistant to making a real Doom 3. Big, expansive, mostly non-linear levels, wide open or claustrophobic and usually both in different areas, packed with tons of monsters. Is it really that complicated a formula?

Garbage trailer is garbage. The RPS article describes gameplay and that's the only thing I'm interested in. All the teaser above does is tell me there's going to be a new Doom and I'm pretty sure we already knew that.

Linear levels aren't inherently bad, and even with that aside I'm not going to to really know exactly what "linear" means until I see the game itself. Too many people treat that joke "FPS: 1993 vs Today" image as gospel and are quick to call just about everything overly-linear, even if the stages are more interconnected arenas than corridors.

Unique melee kill animations can be fine. If they're as fast as the kills in Wolfenstein TNO or Serious Sam 3 and they leave you vulnerable it is not an issue.

Make it feel similar to W:TNO, with the backdrop of Doom 1 and I'm good.

The animations are okay in Wolfy, but I don't want to see it in Doom.

Fuck that teaser; if I wanted to watch a Doom movie, I'd go find the Rock.
