Roommates

Since I've moved out of my mother's house I've had a roommate. He was a pretty good guy, liked everything I like video games anime and the what not. My mother rented out her house to some people that didn't take care if it and when she got fed up she kicked them out and asked me if we wanted to live there. I called up one of my friends that still lived at home and he said that he'd live with us. Things were going great. Then my first roommate moved out, basically on short notice. Said he was giving us 2 weeks but then he moved out in like 2 days. Found out he was living with some girl and like 4 months later he moved to Florida with her and got married. Still a shock and lots of our friends didn't even find out to way later. Now I need a new roommate... I have friends that still live at home, but they are very complacent. They don't have jobs and their parents don't mind it seems. I really don't know how to look or what to look for and I would want someone that would meld with my current roommate and I. Have anyone here ever roommated with someone they didn't know? How can you trust them? Did they have alot in common with yourself or another roommate?

Eff that. My own sister used to steal shit from me when I lived with my parents. If I couldn't trust her enough to leave my room unlocked, I'll never be able to trust a complete stranger.

I used Craig's List. My roomates are too scared to do shit to me or my things because I keep a butcher's knife under my mattress.

I've had the same roommate for the last two years, and we're going to stay in the same place for another year. I asked him if he wanted to share an appt. because I knew that he is reliable and really chill. We're not really friends, we just respect each other's space. I think we've gone places to hang out like five times since we've lived together.

If I had to find another roommate, I would prefer to just get a studio apartment and live alone. I don't want to deal with some dbag college student for a year.

my roommates are wonderful. just never live with your landlord. i made that mistake.

IBTN. Just because someone is a good friend doesn't mean he's going to be a good roommate. Plus, not living with your core group of friends makes sure that you will get out more.

If they don't have boobs, they aren't living with me. Period.

Some of the best roommates I've had were casual acquaintances. Rooming with good friends is not often very good.

All my good friends are fuck ups and flakes. And I don't want my place to smell like smoke.

Wow, I never thought living with good friends would be that bad. Do you guys just have really irresponsible friends? I have had some bad casual acquaintances experiences, usually the better the friend, the better we get along.
