Moving
I've moved a whole buncha times in my life and still hate it.
A.) Things always get lost. No matter what. And it's usually a year or two before you scratch your ass and say "Hey, whatever happened to...?"
B.) You always have more shit than you think you do. Way more shit.
C.) Receivers and HT setup are the worst to pack up and move and then set up again
D.) Organizing things such as setting up Cable, Electricity, and things of that nature leads to all kinds of "4 hour windows" which translates to: where ever you're moving to, bring supplies. You're going to be waiting for a long time for a great many things.
E.) In contrast to A.), above, you'll also notice that two years later you're scratching your ass saying "Why the fuck did I hang on to THAT?"
F.) If I had my druthers*, I'd take every dish I had and break it on the sidewalk and buy new ones. Packing dishes sucks.
G.) Cleaning up your place after everything is packed makes you realize just how surrounded by dirt you are.
H.) It also makes you realize how many outdated food items reside in your residence.
I.) You realize how many friends you have when you move which is measured by how apt one's "friends" are to actually be available (whether they really are or not) and how many actually show up to help you move.
J.) Pass the newspaper. I need to wrap something.
* This is an American phrase and not used widely elsewhere. People elsewhere in the world might want to know what druthers are, as the phrase conveys otherwise. Druthers is a shortening of 'would rathers'. The phrase originated in the late 19th century and is first cited in the January 1870 edition of Overland monthly and Out West magazine, in a story called Centrepole Bill, by George F. Emery

Yes, moving does indeed suck. We bought this house five years ago, and I don't plan on moving for a very long time, if ever again. I fucking hate it.
-
I moved my friends out several times.
When I moved out last Friday I had help from my brother and Dad, that's it.
-
I never have any friends help me move, I am always too shy to ask. But I do try to help my friends move knowing how shitty it is to move myself and that more hands = faster move.
I agree, we have way too much shit when we have to move in a few years (baby shit + my wife's crafting stuff). Heck, just hauling our stuff to a (very small) storage took several trips in my minivan.
-
If a friend of mine is moving I help them move. Packing, loading, unloading, whatever. I in fact helped a friend unpack a uhaul truck last Sunday.
I myself haven't moved since I was six so I can't say much about moving myself.
-
My friends didn't help me for shit.
-
I hate it, but I generally am always willing to help people move as long as they supply food.
-
My family and I moved just over two years ago now, and my father had the great idea to rent a Uhaul truck and move ourselves, no movers, no help whatsoever. Worse, we had a midnight deadline to vacate the house. So that makes my father, my brother, my lazy ass sister, myself and my mother, with a 3 year old at the hip.
My dad estimated we'd have 2 truckload's worth. We had 4. Essentially, 3 people loaded and unloaded 4 18-wheel truckloads of shit until well after 3AM with an infant shrieking in our ears the whole time.

I'm moving tomorrow, and I'm already about to pull my hair out. This will be my FIFTH move in the last two years. At least I got rid of a ton of useless shit during the last move, but now I have a kid, so I have at least two tons of useless baby shit. uggh.
