Are you serious? Oh dear...

yeah, it's really true. at first i thought it was just my car, but i mentioned it to my parents and they said all their toyotas have done that. then i was talking to a friend in class and this came up; he was like, "really? i thought it was just my car." lol. i guess it never comes up 'cause people think their toyota is the only one that does it.
otherwise though i love my corolla. toyotas last forever. my dad's old one was held together with rust and electrical tape and the damn thing just didn't die. on top gear they tried to kill a toyota truck; the thing took a lot of damage and was still running. it was funny to watch.
Fuck that. I'm going to go to all fast foods and get me oil. Filter out the crap and use.
Even better! Not only will I have a cologne of french fries, but I wont be hungry. The smell will just fill me up.
Hell yea! Where is Doc when you need him? Get me a damn flux capacitor
I dontQuote:
didn't he say it's a toyota? i have a toyota, my parents have toyotas, and i have friends with toyotas, and they all have fucked up fuel gauges. my corolla will tell me it's full then suddenly say it's at half a tank a mile later. then it'll say it's 3/4 full the next day.
all toyotas have this "feature."
know which is worse...borked fuel gauge or the speedometer on my car. Sometimes, I dont even know how fast im going cuz the needle is bouncing between 55 and 75
I saw a buddy of mine I used to work with as I was leaving the pub the other day. He waved me over to come check out his new ride. It was one of those Mercedes Benz SMART cars. I dunno if anyone has seen them.

Anywho...I think these cars are ugly as hell. Saving money on gas WOULD NOT be worth it to me if I had to drive something like that around.
Yeah, you can save just as much money on gas with a vehicle that is normal human size and just as cheap. Car and Driver averaged 32 mpg in their test of the Smart, and while their averages are typically a few mpg short of what most people will see (on account of them driving the cars like race car drivers) that's not a particularly good mpg. A Toyota Yaris, Nissan Versa, Chevy Aveo or Honda Fit would get very comparable gas mileage and still be much more practical a vehicle (and for some, better to drive, too).
The Smart would've been brilliant if it was cheaper (sub $10k) and got better mileage (like 50 or 60 mpg), but it's expensive ($12k starting but that doesn't include a/c, think more $14k) and requires premium fuel (no joke). They took what could've been an economical utility and turned it into a fashion statement. That's what you get for your $14k.
Confirmed. I have driven three toyotas (Corolla, Rav4, and Ist... scion xA for non f-chans) and they all had fucked up fuel gauges from the get go. My xA currently gets about 250-300 miles out of the first half of the tank, then you can pretty much see the needle falling while you drive.I would drive the fuck out of that in the city. It looks like a squished xA, which is to say a squished tennis shoe. I like tennis shoes, and parking in that thing would be a joy.
