If someone is interested in "rocking" they'd be better off using their time practicing a real instrument, rather than wasting time playing Simon Sez with extravagant input devices.

Nobody's said that before.
He even brought up Simon Sez. Awesome. I totally thought these games weren't about hitting specific buttons at specific times.Quote:

Damn. I was hoping this was an announcement for a real Guitar Freaks/Drummania US port so I can buy the peripherals and use it on the JP mixes like I did with Beatmania. Here's hoping they'd work with them.
Any midi drum set will do. Midi drum pads don't care witch "brain" they're plugged into. It's a standard. And all drum brains have the midi output that the Yamaha uses to send signal to the PS2.
I've tested a Roland TD-5 with Dummania, and for whatever reason it double triggers. But the Alesis DM-5 works just fine and is like 90,000 times cheaper than a Yamaha. I'm guessing many others work fine as well.
*looks at Konami drum pad*
Not sure what to make of that. I love that the snare is actually lower than the hat and to the hat's right like it should be. But it's going to give lefties fits.
But this
is great news.Quote:

We'll see. I (and I imagine most people) don't have room for 3 sets of fake instruments. I'm certainly sticking with Rock Band, but this could very well be better than Guitar Hero 4 and warrant a purchase over that.
And bring over Drummania and some proper Beatmanias for the love of God.
I figured since it plugged in to the PS2's USB port it would only specifically look for Yamaha's set. I guess it's just the set its advertised to work with. Glad I'm wrong.Quote:

Watch the trailer. It seems Harmonix-style.Quote:

Rather than clone Rock Band and Guitar Hero, Konami should've stuck with doing a US version of Guitar Freaks & Drummania- which has several different genres represented instead of just rock.
Jimmy Weckl's jazz fusion tracks like Centaur, Kaleidoscope, and Wonderful Workers are awesome stuff- same goes for Body Operation and Captain's Voyage by Motoaki Furukawa. J-Rock tracks such as Jet G Crew, Wild Challenger, etc. are something Konami could use to give their game something RB & GH lack. Furifuri'60 kicks ass.
Sadly, I could see KoA keeping songs with Japanese lyrics (bye to Banbina, K, and Liar Liar :( ) out of the lineup for a US release. Japanese lyrics are no problem IMO- just show a translation on the bottom of the screen.
If they include some songs from GF/DM, I may think about it. For now, forget it.
Nobody will care about that shit when other series are busy rocking.
Nobody wants to be fag hero.
