Believe it. They're pretty cheap per pound (I'd eat better if I could afford more produce, meh) and they're actually filling. Bananas and apples are hands down the best snack foods.

We have two shitty grocery stores here with little variety. 1.69/lb for apples sucks. Paying that much for very basic and usually bruised produce makes me turn to cereal as my staple instead.
Special K with 1/2% milk is awesome. With banana. Because at least those fuckers are under $1/lb.
fresh produce is quite pricey... new house means i can actually start growing some veg. i have a back yard :D
squash is a really cheap vegetable that can be used in so many ways. it's excellent for keeping the cost down and keeping it healthy.

I buy all my produce at a farmers market. A weeks worth of vegetables costs me, like, ten or fifteen bucks.
