blah blah blah. Safeway brand "old fashioned chunky peanut butter" is cheaper than what you are eating now and it only has two ingredients. I LOVE how people (you) assume that in order to eat healthy you have to buy expensive foods.
Don't get personal, bitch.
Shut the fuck up, faggot.
If you have a food processor I can't imagine it's terribly difficult to make your own with bulk peanuts, either. In fact, I think I'm going to do that this weekend and see if I don't feel better about peanut butter again.
So I'm not drinking soda anymore. Only coffee with low fat milk. Drinking unflavored green tea with dinner and juice with lunch. It may not be perfect, but it's a lot better than in the past.
I'm not afraid to admit that I bought Wii Fit either. Home exercises were spotty and this gives me some sense of routine and repetition. Plus I'd feel stupid to not use it if I spent 80 bucks on it. I'd like to incorporate the gym, but through the week I have two hours between getting home and going to bed. Without a car that time is near nothing - it would take about an hour just to get to the gym on the bus ><
So far it's working out. I eat smaller portions, get hungry more often through the day, sleep and wake up better, plus I'm losing weight. Thankfully my arms are getting strength back in them, and I'm paying more attention to what muscles I use for what tasks. Surprisingly I went from lifting and holding boxes, bags. etc using my wrists and forearms without noticing! Now I'm making better use of biceps and triceps when something needs to be carried.
Scratch that. Whatever kind of peanut butter 7/11 sells.
You get all offended that I eat consumer peanut butter because it's cheaper. All Meijer has that isn't like Jiffy is a $6.50 small glass jar of organic fancy peanut butter. Where do you buy this Safeway shit? I look, constantly, but my shopping outlets are: Meijer, Wal-mart, and rarely Kroger (more expensive). In my situation, yes, I do assume that it costs more to eat better, because that is the case around here. Cheap store brand white/enriched flour bread? 80 cents. Whole wheat shit? $3.50. (I tried making my own bread, I always ruin it.) It's like that across the board, and it's unfortunate.
I eat poorly and I know it. Stouffer's skillet bags are $4, and it feeds two people. I can't do that buying my own vegetables, chicken, pasta, seasoning, etc. No chance. I'd love to learn to cook better and not stuff preservatives down my throat but it'll have to wait until I'm done with student debt and have an actual income.
My weight is not an issue, but content of the thread interests me greatly. I've been wanting to adjust my diet where possible and being out of a dorm situation allows for that for the first time in my life. My activity level is also pathetic, so I've been throwing in a lot of walking, riding my bike to work (when weather permits, we're in storm season) and just working over that 'I want to be lazy' problem.
I buy the Safeway shit at Safeway. A HUGE chain of grocery stores (with stores in Ohio).
Honestly, never heard of it. I've never seen a Costco either, so it might not be around here. I'll look into, but I doubt there's one within reasonable driving distance. edit: storefinder found nothing for this area, surprise
I've heard of Safeway. I don't think we have any up here in NY, but I've seen them when I've gone down south.
We only have Meijer and Kroger for normal grocery stores, and a Wal-mart super center that I tend to avoid if I'm looking for produce (they produce is horrific). Meijer is cheaper and has good apples, but Kroger is better for everything else (excluding prices). Back in NE Ohio we had Giant Eagle, Tops (before it went out of business) and Beuhler's.
Meijer has a good bakery. I try to get their wheat breads when they're day-past-sale-date and 70% off because it's still completely awesome and soft still.
