Yeah, Well I am hoping that I can atleast try it tonight at midnight not really sure how that is going to work. The game is already installed. Which sucks is my irl friends were like the ones who were all "this game looks good" now they are like "let us know how it is..." so I am down for any server where I can play with someone I know.
Aaaaand the game is down for retail launch until 11pm est. I'll be on tomorrow, name is Falco. I'm still in Tortage but should be done with it tomorrow. I'm up for helping any TNLers with quests.
PvE TNL server is Zug.
Like the game alot but my system is ass old and it shows. Initial impressions are solid but we'll see how it is outside of Tortage.
I didn't get to play untill this morning for 15 minutes made my guy and got to lvl 4 woot ;P Shik PVE ZUG :P
I'm wondering if anyone else feels the price of entry and to play is a bit expensive? $40 for the game + $14.00 a month. I'm no stranger to paying MMO fees but I'm really hoping the popularity of WOW is going to force competing developers to lower the monthly price to play their competing game.
The design in this game is absolute crap.

WoW really isn't much more than a chatroom attached to a screensaver you occasionally have to interact with. The raids and dungeons are the only fun bits and when you get to the point where you only want to play raids but have to grind out items and honor I don't know how any of you continue.

4/5 Hyjal and on the verge of having Kael down then focusing on Archimonde, considering we raid 2 days a week it's good. Also Naj.
And honestly, you don't really have to grind out anything, I get one my main character for the two raids a week, maybe I"ll level an alt but I don't have to do a single thing I don't enjoy in WoW.
If you need money? for something, it'll take you bout an hour to make 150+ gold depending on how bad PVP is.
I blame WoW for everything bad that's happened to TNL.

Sorry that I can't identify with getting burnt out on srsbsnss raiding when we go twice a week and kick ass.
I have to muster enough hate to convince myself not to get into the expansion. I already wasted over a third of a year being logged into that piece of shit, and I got off way easy.
RF just does 2 nights about 4 hours and we're only an instance and a half from endgame.

Well, WOW did take most of my time in 3+ years I played it. At that time I cant blame anyone but me for my play addiction. Hell, I still miss it, and SOME of the friends left behind.
Still, going back to AOC, sure, it most likely be another WOW clone/wanna be, but I am willing to give it a month try. See what might be different from WOW.
For me, WOW just conventions just feel old. even with every new dungeon, it becomes, the mob/boss grind.
Are you guys really shitting on this, or just getting defensive over WoW? Because everywhere else Im looking people seem impressed with Conan. It looks pretty awesome actually, I just dont think there is anyway in hell I have a PC that can keep up with it.

I don't know what I think of the game so far. I switched back to a pvp server because I knew I would regret being on PVE. I'll be damn though the first city has way to many quests. I felt overwhelmed and no sense of direction on what I should be doing.

That part seems a bit crappy Mars I went into some dungeon and it allowed me to attack someone the hit detection was shitty and the player was standing still. I don't know maybe I am just used to wow I'll give it a few more days before I give a real honest opinion on it.
If they had a free trial I'd give this game a shot.

Ok, Last night, after long installation and bunch of patch updates, I was finally able to spend couple of hours with the game. And so far I liked what was there. Hell no, not perfect, but decent enough.
Me and dj had some great time messing around with the barbarian he made. Arnold look alike, named Titann (go figure, with dj its either Titann or Commie variations lol), dressed in loin cloth and armed with big piece of wood, wrecking everything on his was in the jungle near Tortage.
I went with road easier to me and fof beginning made an assassin, Despaird. No NE badass this time though, just sexy stygian dagger chick. Works for now.
On high setting games is pretty, but it is taxing my older system :( so things go bit laggy. I am diggin the art style so far. Its different from more high fantasy, cartoony style of WOW. Blood and gore is a decent visual gimmick. When you do strong hits, and soon fatalities, blood splatters the screen which is pretty cool.
I guess the begging it one semi-long instance tutorial with few small time bosses, nothing too hard at all, but what allows to tryout the game play.
Enemies range from oh cool and nice animation, to WTF was that gimpy fucking thing. With higher settings things work better.
Interface needs serious work though. I hope they either mode it, or there will be better add-ons to fix some of the shitty layout. But even with flaws, it workable.
Combat is FUN. Multiple way attacking and shielding, watching enemies react to the way you attack, adds to the game play, and also actually affects the damage you do. Dodging, jumping and strafing also quite important. I was so happy to see JUMP actually being there. In all of the game videos, I never seen character jump, and I was afraid it was akin to Guild Wars.
Stealthing around was much fun, and brought great memories from my WOW rogue.
I didn't had much time, plus the curse of early days WOW struck AOC as well. The dreaded SERVER DOWN situation. But it came back shortly, and I was able to get my assassinating ass into Tortage and start working some quests. Here game feels more of Oblivion then WOW, but I am sure, its get more group oriented later on.
Looking forward more playtime tonight. Got to get past that level 6 :)

Got my assassin to level 11 last night. Mostly doing single player night Tortage quests and mini instances. I am loving it so far.
I really want to try Herald of Xotli, so I might make one tonight and mess around.
There are some really annoying bugs though they need to fix.
I was doing mansion instance, and if you would fight mobs near walls, or corners and get pushed, you get fucking stuck into the wall. Only way out is to hearth. So I did that, came back into the instance, continued killing, and viola, got stuck again but this time with fucking 30 min hearth cooldown. So I called it a night.
Another bug is once in a while I just cant do any of my moves. Its really weird. You can press/click but nothing happens. Wasn't a latency issue either. Logging out and getting back helped to fix it, but happened like 3 times last night. really annoying.

I was away all weekend but got myself to 25 tonight. This game is turning into a run-a-thon. Cheesy easy xp but all I do is run from point A to point B then back to point A again.

Got to level 19 last night, but still cant get ot of damn Tortage. Almost done with most of the quests in White Sand Island and Arch Ruins. Both were qute nice looking places. Huge too.
But fuck Underhalls, that shit is too confusing for its own good. Multiple tiered instance zones with maze like structure are THE SUCK. Trying to do some quests and following the arrows on map, and being lost makes me wanna hearth out that damn place.
Also, since these are multiplayer zones, the respawn rates on mobs are crazy. Some of the mobs practicly respawn back at your back like 10 secs after you kill them. If you higher level than them, its ok, but equal-lower, they tend to gang rape you. Especially combined with mini-boss, or boss mobs.
Still havent tried Epic, i wonder how that bumps the difficulty.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm not paying for a month of this once the free one runs out.
Once you get out of Tortage, you'll be glad the respawn rates are where they are and even then they are too slow imo.Quote:

I can officially say that Priest of Mitras are overpowered. With talents, I let an even level mob beat on me for 10 minutes and my HP did not change.

I am still playing, and liking it so far. Don't have much time to play lately, so my assassin is just 32.
Hopefully, Funcom will fix more of the bugs soon, cause it will make the game much better.
They need to stop doing updates because they just constantly break the game. 48 PoM. Fun, but slowing down a little.
