this review. Sounds boring. I mean, it sounds like Doom III only more boring. 12 or so enemy types? Great. Easily predictable enemy jump-out spots? Yawn. At least Doom had the whole "You can't see shit ever at all ever except for this flashlight" shit going for it. I was scared for a while. Until, you know, I realized exactly when all the enemies would jump out.
I'm already playing Assasin's Creed, a game in which after the first memory block you've pretty much played the entire game, only with a nerfed skillset. I admit, I'm having a ton of fun with Creed just because combat is a pleasure, and the motion and weight of everything both during combat and just plain running and climbing around is wonderful to watch. I feel like Creed should have just been Mirror's Edge. If it focused less on collect-a-thon-repetetive-o-thons and didn't make you run around from city to city nine times, then it would be way more awesome. The thing that's the most fun about Creed is what's most fun about Crackdown: Just running around and shit. At least when you get bogged down by fighting in Creed it's actually fun.
The point is, I guess, I don't want to play another game where I've seen everything in the first hour. I guess you could argue that Bioshock had even fewer enemy types, but the fun times in Bioshock were all about getting creative with your badass powers. So I'll pass on this.
