So saying money is the root of all evil is correct just more general and only applicable in certain cases, e.g. it is correct in all cases when the love of money is the root of the evil.

Greed, or simply the natural Darwinian competitiveness in all creatures, objectified in this case by material possessions, is the root of this "evil" you speak of. It is endemic to every moderately developed, yet Man's ingenuity strips it of its innocent veneer and causes people to see it as anything different than what they see in National Geographic. The fact that money is used to standardize the value of material goods for easy commerce does not make it, nor its use, the root of the "problem". It is simply a unit of measurement applied to things which themselves are fought over due to a very primal cause. Blaming money or the use of money for anything is the naive rambling of a faux intellectual. This is also why socialism and other utopian fantasy cant work, btw.
