They tried to sell a nuke to Hitler once.
They gave him an even siller moustashe, but you knew who it was.
That guy got fired.
My personal favorite was they guy who was going to dump a load of "toxic waste" so labeled into the ocean because he had an immense hatred of fish.
That was a pretty funny episode.
The kids
"Why are you doing this Mr Evil guy"
"Because I HATE squishy smelly fish, now kindly move out of the way so I can dump this one barrel of toxic waste into the ocean and kill every fish on the planet"
Don't bother bc, it's cool to hate on America right now.
I'm confused. Isn't the Carbon Belch Day being sponsored by people who agree with you that climate change isn't being man-made? Also, didn't the IPCC report, made by like a 1000 climate scientists, say there was a 90% chance of it being anthropogenic? Isn't that scientific evidence? I'm just trying to understand what you mean when you say counterculture.
Yes, what's your point?
The IPCC report is useful as a political tool and not much else. It conveniently ignores everything that contradicts it's predetermined position that global warming is man-made. For example, the report classifies all greenhouse gases as man-made when in fact a tiny fraction of CO2 emissions are anthropogenic.
People are tired of being compared to holocaust deniers when voicing doubts about man-made global warming. "Carbon Belch Day" is the juvenile reaction of a handful of them.
I'm still waiting on Calliander's list of mature countries.
Then the majority of scientists think it isn't anthropogenic?
It seems like a pretty complicated argument best left for scientists to hash out before anyone comes to sweeping conclusions. I'm dubious about either side making absolute claims about what climate change 'is' and 'isn't'. Sure, the believers have people like Gore and his power point presentation clearly conflating the problem, but don't the denialists have to admit at some point they were wrong for denying climate change's very existence for the better part of two decades? I'm not seeing any reason to trust either group's assumptions at this point.
What I do see is ample reasons for practicing a more energy efficient lifestyle, for financial sake if not for lofty Captain Planet ideals. But when it comes to turning personal activism into holidays or stunts to 'raise awareness' I just tune it out. All seems like white noise to me.
I'm all for living an environmentally friendly lifestyle because I don't enjoy shitty air and water. My car gets over 30 mpg. You don't have to buy into the global warming industry to care about the environment. As for the science of global warming, it's junk science. Just like the global cooling crisis was junk science. It's silly to sit back and "let the scientists hash it out" because most scientists can get a hell of a lot more grant money supporting global warming than debunking it. Global warming is political theater. Use your head, look at the objective facts (like global warming occurring on other planets), and then make up your mind. If you want to buy carbon credits from Al to be on the safe side that's your business.
