Kojima given Guinness Record for creating stealth games

Maybe I'm crazy, but Castle Wolfenstein?

And that's ignoring how stupid the record is in the first place.

Yeah, Metal Gear certainly did not introduce the stealth game.

If only Tenchu had been released five months earlier, maybe it would have gotten the record. If only it had been released in Japan in February to MGS's September. If only...

Not to mention, of course- If only there had been a video game industry before PS1, maybe somebody else entirely could have invented the genre.

...I don't see how this is a record. I thought the Guiness book was supposed to be about awesome shit like Most Pies Eaten, Biggest Beard, and Biggest Beard Made of Bees. I like videogames, but don't patronize me. Hideo Kojima is not cut from the same cloth as a man who willingly substitutes facial hair for bees long enough to smile for a picture, and I'm okay with that.

Oh, whoops. The mention of MGS2 made me mentally fill in the Solid on the first game. Feh!

Well, I knew that this book was doomed from the moment they decided to use Twin Galaxies as the sole source for their score records. This just confirms it.

I can't think of much that MG does that Castle Wolfenstein doesn't do - and several things that Wolfenstein does that MG didn't do until MGS2, like being able to hold up guards.

I don't see what the big deal is. A Guinness Record isn't like a Nobel Peace Prize.

...er, I mean an Emmy.

That's because we didn't notice Tenchu sneaking up behnd us, but it was always there...

WTF, this shouldn't even be a record, whether Kojima is the rightful holder or not. A record needs to (at least theoretically) be breakable.

Kojima receiving any award that isn't posthumous makes me sad.

And Tenchu > MGS.

Guinness' "videogame" stuff seems to mostly consist of debatable facts.

Something to do with selling more copies at the book fair.

i like "biggest selling stealth game on PS2". they have so many nuances to these records anymore it's amazing they can even fit them in a book.

i want the record for "typing out a resonse in the Kojima Guinness thread between 2:14 and 2:15" record.

I read the most books in the state of Maryland for the MS Read-A-Thon back in 1987. Someone contact Guinness please.
