To coincide with this, does anyone have a clue as to the status as to Hubb's bar? Haven't seen him around much lately.
I was almost going to Dragoncon this year but saving money for other fun trips. Unless someone wanted to carpool it from up north to Atlanta.
Hey, Ex-Nerds. Back the fuck off.
I was told there would be dragons at this con.
Honestly, I have no problem hitting people with foam covered weapons.
I was pretty pissed the Atlanta version of Wizardworld was bullied into cancellation by some grudge Charlotte's Herocon fostered against it. A big comic-focused con would have been much preferable to Dragon*Con's jack of all trades, master of none schtick.
I just left Atlanta, not going back.
But you could come hang out at The Vortex with me and eat burgers/drink.
Damn, I miss the Vortex. Best beer selection #1. Ever been to the burlesque shows*?

It's been too long since I've been down to Little 5.
Hey Josh, weren't you just begging your sugar daddy for a new Star Trek shirt?
Shazam!
KA-POW!
I was just there the other day. Little 5 is totally different now since they are knocking down stuff and putting up homes and shopping centers. I miss when there were atleast 5 record stores down there. There is another vortex on Peachtree street, I think I applied there when I was in culinary school. There were some mighty hot women working there too.
If we did have a meetup in ATL it'd be nice to goto the aquarium...since I've not been yet. Too bad all the crunk clubs got tore down, it'd be funny to have gone to club vission and took some quick shots with random rap stars haha.
Yeah, tons of shit's disappeared in the last couple years. Gentrification! You can still get chicken and waffles, I think.
I was going to make a thread like this, but I might as well toss it in here. Has there been any discussion about a NW or West Coast TNL Get-to-Together? I remember we did that map thing a while ago that plotted out everyone's location, and it didn't look like there was much representation over here.
Has there been a west coast TNL get together? Really?
I would be down with the ATL (Or Savannah or Athens). But I'm much more likely to go once I turn 21 in October like I said in the other thread.
I'm looking for an excuse to go to Savannah.
Savannah isn't much fun unless you like historic tourist type stuff or go on St Patty's day when there are TONS of drunken partying going on.
I guess you missed the huge fucking deal we made about the LA get together a few months ago. It was a stickied thread in this forum for, like, 5 months.
And then there was another one, like, 2 months later I think.
No

This is the one he sports to the bar

Savannah is touristy, yes, but it is nice in a "find a place to sit in one of the 20 parks and read a book" kind of way. I also remember the historic district having a fair amount of bars and such.
Yea there are lots of places around the historic district, just get the hell out before dark. I had some friends that lived down there and they told me all sorts of mugging stories. Also if I ever go back down there, I shall scream if I have to see or hear about Paula Dean one more time.
I spent four years in Savannah. Bars and muggings confirmed.
We should go and smash all those dumb bird girl statues.
We should mug people.
Thug Next Level begins here!
$$$$
Gold fo' yo' teef imo.
Dolla dolla billz.
If a lot of people were going to show up, I'd consider dragging my ass down to Atlanta. Haven't been in a long time (usually go down to St. Simons when I'm in GA)
Oh man, they've fucked up Little 5? I haven't been to Atlanta in a few years but that was pretty much the place to hang with my peoples any time I was there.
I would totally go to the aquarium. My wife and I were talking about going sometime soon for that specific reason. We keep fish and are really into that stuff. I'll call you when we plan on getting down there.
Whale Sharks!
Whale sharks have huge swinging dongs. Heard it here first.
IDBTN, I'm going to ask Turtlegirl.
Atlanta's just south of me, I'd probably go.
Someone would have to buy my beer, though :(
I can do any weekend between now and christmas. After that I gotta go back and finish my degree.
atlanta is just a little further in distance from me than nyc is...
if you get a date then i can say yes or no.
I'm just an hour or so away from ATL, so I'll be there unless I'm booked up with all sorts of stuff. Weekends are pretty good for me since I'm off every Sunday. I also know my way around the city pretty well.
Too bad I don't work for the Westin anymore, I could of probably got a group discount on hotel rooms. Unless yall are crashing at peoples houses and stuff.
I could probably put up a person or two.
Athens sucks. It's pretty much the poster-child for trendy, white college towns, with its hoard of coffee/sandwich shops + clubs that play jazz or indie music exclusively.
Savannah is OK. Some cool historical architecture and some decent restaurants, but that's about it. Probably not the best place to take a large group.
Atlanta is huge, and has tons of shit going on. I went to the aquarium a long time ago, before it got renovated. It was pretty cool as a kid.
The only reason I ever visit Atlanta, though, is for concerts. The amount of music venues they have is pretty much unmatched in the southern US.
Wtf? The aquarium hasn't been in Atlanta long enough to need to be renovated. It's just now breaking ground for an expansion. It opened up in 2005....you were a lil kid back then?
The world of coke on the other hand moved and got renovated. Underground Atlanta now has all the clubs and stuff.
Before it got... built?
I liked going to the rotating resturaunt and looking at the city. Never ordered a drink up there, but went a few times just for fun. :D
Yea the Sundial restaurant on top of the Westin at peachtree. That is one of the hotels that got messed up during that tornado awhile back. I dunno if it messed up the restaurant or not. I just know they only got half the rooms now. I know the executive sous chef there and my buddy's wife is a front desk manager or something over there too. Thats a pretty lively area with the hard rock cafe and other places all around or in walking distance. I'll be over there tomorrow afternoon at SAE audio school for an ableton clinic. I'll cruise around a bit and see what all damage is still done and what all new stuff is up.
If you promised that you'd bring some desserts, I'd show.
