Everyone got their milk from the same tit. They're all drinking their generations trendy bullshit flavoured pablum. The only generation that even attempted to get rid of labels and boundaries was the Grunge era. But by the time it had gotten wind everyone was dressing like Eddie Vedder and people actually started calling their music "grunge", which defeated the whole purpose.

Another fact is that bigtime rappers are the new rockstars. When Drew says "the more things change, the more they stay the same" he is merely stating that sub-cultural identity with music has always existed, and always will, despite of or in congress with popular trends in music taste. Urban music rules the airwaves, and the culture that comes along with said music genre is evident in it's listeners. It's not really a hard concept to understand, nor will bitching about it do you or anyone any good. People like what they like. You can call it being foisted upon them by mass-media or peers or whatever...wtf is the difference?
