I've always liked Capcom fighters more. I've owned many SNK fighters, and for whatever reason, there's something about them that doesn't make them as good as Capcom's. Dunno what, though.

While I can't knock Capcom' design skills, I've gotta vote for SNK. They've always taken whatever Capcom's done, then made it one better. their games are also alot faster (with the exception of the vs series) I also like their characters ALOT more. I just wish they'd give up on the Neo Geo. If Arc can make GGX look that good on Naomi, can you imagine what Eolith could do with Naomi 2?
Although I really like Capcom's characters, and they basically created 2D fighters as we know them today, I gotta vote for SNK. SNK has more style and better stories (not that they really matter too much in fighters) than Capcom ever has, I think...
Edit - But on a whole, Capcom > SNK.
yeah, I'm throwing my vote in with SNK as well, or I planned to, but apparently, I already voted in this poll, so I have no idea what the hell is going on.
I tend to think Street Fighter is Capcom's main competition with. . .SNK, but there is much more variety to me on SNK's side, and the fact that I spent most of my time playing SNK fighters because of the lines for street fighter didn't help. If we're going the "best series" route, it'd be a tougher choice, but as it is.
plus, I actually enjoy using SNK characters. seems to be bit more variety in play styles.
SNK.
For instance, when SNK made a SNK vs capcom title on the little NGPC, it was great. With the power of an arcade board(cp32?), Capcom couldn't even match SNK's efforts with capcom vs snk. Just an example of why I prefer SNK.
I'd have to give my vote to Capcom. I'm not a fighting game fanatic, like some of you, but some of my favorite fighting games of all time, are from Capcom. Personnal favorites include Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Night Warriors, Vampire Savior: The Lord of Vampire, Street Fighter Alpha series, X-Men: Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, Street Fighter III: Double Impact and Cyberbots.
The only SNK fighters I own are:
Mark of the Wolves, Last Blade 2, and King of Fighters: Evolution.
Well, I love both Capcom and SNK, and enjoy games done by both companies, I would have to go with Capcom here. I just love their games little bit more.
Hmm..a very hard choice. Although I like Rival Schools and the Pre-MvC VS.s and VS. style games(MSH,XMCotA), this is pretty much the SF series vs. SNK....still a hard choice...
This again?
...still Capcom.
Capcom. I haven't liked actually playing any of KoF until 2001 (the game, not the year), though enjoy the story and character designs, it's always seemed to me like SNK never really bothered to actually change the underlying gameplay until Capcom did (in terms of Street Fighter and King of Fighters). Whatever Capcom did, SNK copied, and that showed to me which was the better game in their main series. Well, that and actually playing them.
SNK: I was never big into Samurai Showdown, but have never played it for more then a few matches, so I really can't comment on it. I highly enjoyed what I played of Last Blade 2, but don't own it and haven't really delved into it. G:MotW was a great step forward, but again felt like they waited to see what Capcom would do and ripped off ideas to incorperate. They need a little gumption of their own, I would guess.
Capcom: Rival Schools and Project Justice are friggin' awesome, I love their style, the story, the hysterical oddities and sheer randomness of the whole situation (it's like a combination of SNK story-writing, Capcom gameplay, and over-the-top mechanics) that I can't help but love. And they've made the best mech fighting games ever, CyberBots and Tech Romancer. Not to mention the greatest fighting game ever, SFIII:TS. And when you toss in Vampire to the pot, which has the most charisma in any fighting game and some of the best Supers ever, I can't help but pick Capcom.
Of course, my choice here is admittedly lop-sided due to my fairly low knowledge of SNK fighters in comparision, so take that as you will.
