I'm saying it's better. While the lights and spectacle of Old-E3 were a lot of fun, and you couldn't beat the swag right up to the last few years, it was just next to impossible to focus on the games as much as we could this year. The only complaint I might have is that it needed a few more companies to attend, and I'm hoping that the good impressions of the mainstream press will do a lot to bring them back. An E3 without an Atlus booth just didn't feel right.

Yeah, pretty much. I mean they were already pushing a bit toward that in '06 with media-only hours and such. The show is different now and it has a different role in the industry, but strictly from my perspective as media, it has some real advantages.

For me, seeing as I have never been nor will likely ever attend an E3, this year has been better than most. While the big 3 could do a better job of wowing us, the games are still there. It could use some more companies, and hopefully the big 3 can do better next year, but with the help of G4 (I know, zomg g4 sucks) I am getting a more in depth look at the games coming out in the next year. The most exciting years for me though have always been when new hardware is coming out, seeing what they can do, etc. Though we will have quite a few more years before that comes around again.

Like you, I posted numbers/charts in response to posts about 360 vs PS3 sales worldwide. It wasn't about Nintendo.

I was leaning toward a PS3 after BR defeated HD-DVD, but with the Netflix announcement I'm leaning toward a 360 again. Great move by MS.

This is true. Also, enough free lunches for everyone!

That said, being condensed meant it was still fairly crowded. I only got to play Castle Crashers for like three minutes, but the fact that most of my sit down sessions were with the actual developers made up for that.

I do miss the spectacle though. I hope things will be just a little less plain jane next year.

Looks like Portal: Still Alive's extra content is based on the Portal mod based on Portal: The Flash Version, which PC users can already download.

that is so incredibly lame.

I finished the flash version before I played Portal.

Its the flash version remade into actual Portal levels, its not just the shitty 2D flash version
