The last bike I had was a bmx style bike, it didn't have different gears. I could kick any hill's ass and I was 14 years old.
You guys are a bunch of pussies.

haha!
I absolutely have.Quote:
Have you ever gone down a snow covered hill with gobs of snow stuck between your rim and brake pads? i tell you that i have and it mostly involves getting off my bike and digging the snow out!
Also, if you prefer to ride in one gear only and/or don't like the feel of a bike that coasts, what are you going to do?
I've ridden some pretty crazy and dangerous trails on my bmx/trail bike in wicked snow/rain/mud conditions that have rendered my brakes totally useless.
Man and up and just do it!
I mean really... who needs brakes anyway?
No brakes are the next logical progression after fixed gear...
"I love riding with no brakes... it just feels better...."
I just got a hydraulic disc brake after my rear caliper brake got all busticated. (thankfully my frame was disc brake ready)
There is no going back (as suspected).
The extra control makes technical log crossings and tight downhill switchbacks so much easier to tackle.
That said, for 20 years I was fine with caliper brakes. ...except that one time I rear ended a car in Philly during morning rush hour traffic becasue my rims were iced over.
Freewheel, no brakes, Fred Flinstone it barefoot or you're not a real man.
We should bike fight until one of us is DEAD.Quote:
You guys should fight.
and Nemo, i thought a manly man such as yourself would be interested in the danger and extra effort required in such a thing! You have to tame the bike before you can ride it. Until then, BIKE RIDES YOU.
Hah, see now we are getting somewhere!
i can totally skid on gravel, sandy surfaces, grass, and wet asphalt now. still working on the dry pavement thing, it feels like it's about to rip my knee out of my socket. i can't track stand yet. one day... then i'll be hopping everywhere like that one guy. i'll just hop off cars and buildings and street lamps whenever i go anywhere.
also, at the bike repair place i usually go to, some lady needed her son's pedal fixed and the mechanic was out. and i just happened to have my 15mm wrench with me. yawfins.
Lance Armstrong rides fixie, nemo, don't you like Lance Armstrong?
Actually, I bet that video possesses everything that kid hates about fixie riders.
