I never really gave building a bike too much thought. So long as the frame is sturdy and it isn't one gear I'm all for it. One gear going down a hill is fuck you shit.

You pretty much just get a beater commuter bike from whatever the co-op has available.
So I did 22 miles on the ole fixed gear today - pretty much all hilly terrain, some of it which was pretty gnarly. There was a guy on a geared up road bike, all dressed in his matching leotard and accessories... I kept solid pace with him the entire time, good times.
Still not sold on the fixed gear deal, but I'll stick with it for a while longer.
I hate it, personally. Sometimes I just like to coast.

Sweet! DO I SEE A SPOKE CARD?
LOL. noooo, just an electrical outlet, I'm not down with all those crazy things the kids with the tight pants and flannel shirts do.
Ha ha ha, it really looks like a spoke card in that picture.
I hope you enjoy riding it and put a metro card in those spokes.
I love when I can tell who the worst people ever are based on what kind of awful shit they jam between their spokes.
Also I really need to get to a bike building and/or maintenance class one of these days.
Don't judge. You just wish you had a metro card stuck in your spokes so you can say you lived in The City without actually saying it.
