What Are You Playing? - August 2008
I like these threads, at least when people talk about the games they're playing instead of just listing. This is what I have been playing:

I'm guessing I'm getting close to the end.
- As much as I complained about the driving controls at first, they actually grew on me. The GPS is a nice touch as well.
- It's surprisingly easy for a GTA game.
- I wish the missions were more ambitious in design. I guess there's enough freedom of choice of where to go in the vehicle parts but often when you're on foot in a building, it seems so linear. Usually there's only path out and not much room for creativity on the player's part. It just becomes a weaker Gears of War at spots when they could have pushed the sandbox gameplay further.
- This is nothing new for GTA but what's the point of having a monetary system when it's impossible to run low on cash? You can always buy enough ammo and armour, and this contributes to making the missions more linear.
- Still, I am loving the game. The city is quite amazing and the high speed chases are still a lot of fun even if the game is evolutionary and not revolutionary. Unlike San Andreas (which was great but so similar to 3 and Vice) which I didn't finish, I haven't lost interest.

-I'm at Day 1, Week 2.
- As someone who has been losing interest in JRPGs, it's nice to see something fresh. It has a look and feel all its own for the genre.
- The battle system actually uses the touchscreen in a non-gimmicky way which is cool. Is there much point in manually using the top-screen's player? It seems to me that battles are easier when concentrating mostly on the bottom screen.
- This game has been easy so far but I hear it gets pretty difficult later on. I'm looking forward to it getting more strategic.
- There's too much shitty dialogue and the main character needs a kick in the nuts.
- Overall though, I'm liking it a lot.

- I have owned the DC version for years, and enjoyed playing it before but never beat it. I will this time as I'm most of the way through it.
- It's one of last gen's best platformers; I love the art and level design. I'm liking it more now than before. I think I was a bit sick of 3d platformers when I first played or something.
- I swear one of the short music tunes is ripped straight from Ocarina of Time.

- This is another awesome game I never beat (although it was because my saves somehow got erased before) but plan on doing it this time. I'm a much bigger fan of the series than I used to be.
- I wish Nintendo would do another puzzle-focused Wario like this but I can't complain about how Wario Shake looks.

- I wouldn't have bought this for full price but it's well worth the $15 I paid.
- It's a platform/Marble Madness mix with a lot of visual style. The whole changes temperature to alter the attacks and landscapes is neat.
- The only thing that holds this game back from greatness is that the tilt controls can sometimes be a bit slippery. It can get frustrating falling off edges.

- I know the PS2 game is considered better than this PSP one. I will get it eventually but for now this is a good albeit old-fashioned stealth ninja fix.
- It feels a lot like a throwback to PS1-era Tenchu complete with goofy camera angles and blocky graphics. That's okay because it excels in atmosphere and addictive sneak attacks.
- I do think they made it too easy to simply beat levels although replaying and to trying and master each one gives it some challenge

- For $5 I figured it was worth a try despite low review scores.
- It's actually a solid beat 'em up, nothing spectacular but it serves the purpose for an old-school arcade style fix. If the levels weren't so small and self-contained, it could have been better.

- I didn't realize that the SFC remake of Nintendo's FDS game had a translated rom until I saw a thread at GAF.
- I'm not expecting anything Snatcher quality but it seems like a quality J-Adventure so far.
I need to stop playing so many different games at once. What are you playing?
