Sad, cuz I used to enjoy R-Type before I found out there were hundreds of better shmups out there.

For once, I am impressed with an XBLA remake of an old game.

I wanna see NEO-GEO Pulstar remade like this.
Also, Ghouls 'N Ghosts and Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts as well as Altered Beast, Golden Axe (lets forget that awful Sega Ages 3D remake on PS2 never happened), Strider, Final Fight, As well as some games that were made for consoles not arcades: Herzog Zwei, Revenge of Shinobi, Shinobi III.
One of the few good examples of a remake with 3D graphics is Fantazy Zone on PS2 (2003 Japan, 2005 U.S.) and the upcoming Fantazy Zone II for PS2 based on the System 16 board. What else would be good to have remade? Cotton, Xexex, Last Resort, Magician Lord, ESWAT... the list could go on and on forever.
I was thinking exactly the same thing about Pulstar (and I agree on Xexex- the special effects in the PCB like the rotating planet, the plasma in the 1st stage BG, etc. could be ramped up some on 360). This compilation looks decent save for the virtual arcade cabinet mode, but I wish a remade R-Type III was also in it.
2 player co-op = goodbye checkpoints. :)
That really looks hot.
Looks like a proper remake, as long as you're not forced into that 3D shift.
Remake of Pulstar would be awesome, but we all know SNK is stupid retarded when it comes to anything but KOF series, so it is never going to happen.
This looks great.
Lol. This looks like awesome silly fun. A render of what it would look like to stand in front of an arcade machine and play it? WIN! The only thing that could possibly be better is if they could license sounds from other arcade games and bleed them in. Like, you keep hearing "Get Ready!" from Space Harrier and that crazy laugh from Final Fight's attract screen.
I'm underwhelmed. Reminds me of those hudson remakes on GameCube. Which weren't bad, but I think the bar has been raised a bit since then.
