You really gotta pay attention and plan ahead, Assassin's Creed 2 needs to rip this system off.
So I picked this up yesterday... I honestly tried to stay away since I have
SO
MUCH
SHIT
to play, but I am honestly a pretty big Batman fan and you guys were non-stop and universally jizzing on this, so I had to make the plunge.
When I saw Croc in that opening scene I lost my shit, already. Pretty awesome game so far. Some of these Riddler clues are making me feel dumb, but I refuse to look them up. Is it better to come back and get shit again at the end, or try to solve all the riddles as you go? I can already tell that some of the trophies and whatnot are in places I cannot access yet.
I think you come back to places later on in the game. Like you said, there is stuff that you can't get to because you don't have the gear/skill to get to them. I like poking around places after I bludgeon thugs to near death so there's no added pressure to sneak around. For me, most of them are pretty easy to find so far and I think when you finish the game you are free to explore the island to gather what you may have missed.
Because chux is such an effective salesman, I picked this up tonight on the way home from a party (lol drunk @walfart) and will begin knocking out thugs sunday when I have some free time.
Question: If I start on hard am I going to get my ass whipped?
Question 2: is it awesome to beat people down with the joker?
Question 3: cocks, anyone?
only batman game that matters
I really wanted to start on hard but got my ass handed to me in the first room so many times that I said fuck you and went normal. I'm 93% done the game on normal but now feel like I could do hard no problem. Don't go billy badass on this one.
I've heard The Joker is nice, but really just like Batman: Gun to stun instead of Batarang, Acid Spray instead of Cape, etc.
Yes, cocks pls.
I know the joker is on the PS3 dudes. I just wanted to know if I was missing out on something awesome.
Short TNL leaderboards for this.
if the network port on my box wasn't fried I'd be waving my dick around on the leader boards too :(
I wonder how long the Joker levels will stay exclusive...
Forever, since Sony actually paid for the development of it.

The only thing that may happen is that someone can hack him into the PC version.Quote:
(ATTN: As confirmed by Sefton Hill of Rocksteady, the Joker will only be playable on the PS3 and will not be playable on the 360 at anytime in the future. It is a permanent PS3-only exclusive. This is due to an exclusive deal that Sony has for the video game.)
This game is fucking rad. Holy shit. It's not even just a good Batman game. It's just an amazing game in its own right. I'm not very far yet. I can't wait to beat the fuck out of Killer Croc.
Just finished the game on Hard with 240/240 Riddles and the Spirit of Arkham solved. Rad times. I am tackling the challenges now and its weird to have the counter indicator above the enemies heads because they don't appear on Hard and they attack slower so my timing is off. I can't put this game down.
got any tips for the titan in the sewer pump area? I can almost do it, but on that last stretch I always get overpowered by the 15 goons that tag up and attack me during slow mo take downs
That one was tough. I put some explosive gel near the elevators where they first came out at the start. I got the titan down to his first 2/3 life pretty fast and climbed on him to take out some goons. The goons also stand around doing nothing when the titan throws a body so I get some free hits. Just dance around the room and let the Titan do some damage and do takedowns when possible. I basically had to kill them all before finishing the titan.

Ever Dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?
BAT DAAAAAAAANCE!
100% completion! Shock and Awe (Extreme) was a total bitch. The only achievement I'm missing is the Party Pooper achievement. I totally skipped that on my play through.
You get maps to all the Riddle locations, they make it pretty easy.
Looking at soundwave's scores, it appears that it is in fact me who fails at being Batman. That's still no excuse for not pounding Joker's goons even when they aren't attacking you.
I don't want to spoil the achievement but its something straight out of Old Boy and on Hard I was very intimidated.
What difficulty should I start on?
I started on Hard for achievements. Enemies take twice as much damage/do more and there's no counter indicator. It can get frustrating but it puts hair on your balls and forces you to master the combat. Normal seems best suited to focusing on the main story and Easy is probably the best way to get all the collectibles.
I always start on Normal just to learn the game and play through the story, then jump to the hardest difficulty to clean up achievements.
eh, there's one of two scenarios in play:
1) you don't have the necessary equipment yet (the game WILL make you backtrack for stuff right up until you get your last bat-toy),
2) you aren't looking around in detective mode enough, if there's any riddler riddles you have to scan in that mode they will be blatantly obvious with that mode on
There was one I just could not find for the life of me, let me go check where it is.
It's in the same area as the Joker face door, and it could either be outside or inside a corridor, the ? dances between the two places. It was driving me crazy.
I ask that of all my prey.
I set a bad ass score on the first combat challenge a few nights ago, I think I beat soundwave.
I'm missing one gadget, I can only assume that's keeping me from some stuff in the Gardens. The one in the Aviary about no closets, but on the roof is driving me nuts. On the East side of the Island I have 2 left, one that looks like it's near the lighthouse and one on the roof of building I can't figure out how to get to.
the lighthouse one I think is you have to detective scan waynetech in the distance and the roof is pretty simple to get on with the rb/r1 zipline, best approach is via the clock tower
Aviary about no closets: literally scan up the walls leading up to the roof on the left side of the room. There's a skeleton attached to the ceiling.
thanks cka, error, fuck you soundwave
In the first room of the Intensive building there is a ? on one of the windows of the control room that in the center. Where the hell is the dot for it?
look through the window from that control room, if it's the one I'm thinking of (bombs on the gargoyles?)
Yeah, that's the room.
Edit: I have no idea how I missed that.
How do I obtain the party pooper achievement?
My guess is you break up the party.
WELCOME TO THE PARTY RICHTER!~
beat the goons up at your party
I think I know what that means. Shit, I don't know if those guys are still there anymore.
They're not, I fucked up, too.
It's so weird that you can only beat the game once.
Son of a bitch. I guess that's left for my second trip through on hard. You can only find the last Arkham Stone Whisperer thing at the very end (I think).
What? All the Spirit of Arkham locations are on the Riddler maps, except the last one to talk to the dude.
If you haven't figured out who it is, I cannot help you. And we can't be friends.
Worlds Greatest Retard confirmed.
I am talking about the last one. I think you can only get it after you find the rest and beat the game.
I don't think you have to beat the game to get it, but you do have to find the rest.
you can get it before you beat the game
I did
That solves that mystery!
Oh man. I'm starting to get into this whole being batman thing. Setting ambushes, using unconsious thugs for bait, that kind of thing. It's awesome.
In the challenge rooms, are the 1,2 and 3 batarang awards given for particular takedowns, and how do you know what they are?
In the punching ones it's all points based, in the stealthy ones press back and it'll tell you what needs to be done.
hit back/select
These fucking riddles are driving me crazy. Most of them I can get pretty easily, then some leave me scouring the entire area over and over with no progress.
Fuck. It was really that simple? DOH! Thanks.
About the riddles, some of them are meant to be solved later on in the game. So if you can't get em, relax and play the game some more, get more upgrades.
Yeah I am ALL ABOUT the Being Batman thing. Using unconscious thugs as bait = #1 thing. Best to put an unconscious dude next to something that goes boom.
Have I mentioned that this game is fuck awesome?
This game is fuck awesome.
17% in after one sitting, so worth every penny. My favorite part so far was sneaking around the room and taking out the goons one by one in stealth while Harley held Gordon prisoner in the room above.
The only shitty thing about this game is the crap end boss fight, the rest is golden.
Joker did something insane with no consideration of consequence? Man, how out of character!
Joker isn't the type to fight like that, it's not at all in character. He schemes, he plots, he isn't physical, nor does he try to find things that will help him compete physically.
I was more disappointed that his voice didn't change.
How did he fit back together? I mean you could see punctures in the skin etc.
Crazy glue, duh.
He had ribs fully sticking out and bleeding and shit.
Shouldn't Bane just explode when he injects Venom? There's no way his skin could stretch to support 4-5x more area than it normally does, nevermind his skeleton.
Really Crazy Glue.
Just Shock and Awe Extreme left to get the Platinum medal, but getting all three of those medals is a bitch. Who the hell thought adding a time limit was a good idea?
The Joker, duh.
Free DLC coming on the 17th.
I just got done with the Croc-sewer-sample-sequence. Am I close to the end?
You're in the latter half of the game.
I am just heading into that area!
Mr. Freeze hasn't shown up yet but I saw his frozen cell! And Sandman was in that cell...rad.
Mr. Freeze will not be making an appearance this game, sorry.
lol @ your message in live btw, the game is longer than I expected but pretty rad all the way through
Also: I just realized that the Riddler challenge grid includes patient tapes, arkham spots, and actual RIDDLES like the first "riddle" he makes you scan, instead of just trophies. I thought every room's riddle was just a clue to a trophy. DUM.
No word yet, but that's my guess.
I want a 1966 batman model for challenge mode, complete with on-screen sound effects
Predator room question!
One of the checkmarks is to drop from above and then do a ground take down. Do you literally have to fall on them to get it? Doing a glide takedown (with x) is a no go and if I jump off and then glide to hit them, it doesn't count after I pounce on 'em when he's down.
Busting through a glass ceiling is weird too. I can't get it to activate consistently. Standing above and hitting Y doesn't seem to work, do you have to glide down to the glass and then do it?
ah yes I know that room
on the walkway toward the side (near the grate you come in from at one point up on the wall) there's a gargoyle right on top of a 90 degree turn on a set of steps leading into the area w/ the boilers, you can hang inverted on that and drop onto a goon for that takedown
the glass ceiling takedown (on the sides of the central room) really depends on if you can get yourself lined up with the goon underneath you, when you do the "Y = TAKEDOWN" popup shows up telling you you can do it
Figures, I never hang off of the gargoyles. Seems like the best way to get spotted.
joker's hired help are fucking idiots and never see you on gargoyles unless you do some extraordinarily stupid shit like try to escape from them up there or do an inverted takedown on a group of them
edit: they actually see you up on them on hard mode, but on normal you are invisible on them
snap, they see you on hard mode? Cool.
Inverted takedowns are awesome but you almost always get seen. I don't know how to get the achievement to hang one up and then use him to surprise another. Do you have to string him up and then cut him down later?
Also I'll never get a 40 combo. The hard part is keeping it strung when everyone is knocked down: don't knock them all down at once, I guess, and if you do knock one down do an instant takedown imo, because that will warp over, as opposed to the rt/punch combo which will whiff.
It's also incredibly difficult to get all the moves in one combo. What are they all? punch, counter, stun attack, combo batarang, combo batclaw, dodge, instant takedown, throw?
I also want to know how Hero got 47 seconds on the first challenge. I can get upstairs, do a sneaky takedown on the guy in front of the exploding wall, hit it with gel, and be ready to blow it all very quickly, but for some reason they won't investigate the corpse if I'm doing it fast.
Or whoever Hiro Random is.
It's Soundwave!
