I couldn't find a post about this but I just got the press release so I summed it up here:

Basically EA is continuing their new IP parade with a couple multiplatform originals. Some kind of action game from Epic/PCF, and an action-horror game from Grasshopper, directed by Suda51 and produced by shinji Mikami. Pretty interesting to see EA continuing on their new direction.
They are doing this on purpose to piss off all those people who are still boycotting EA over Madden.
Good news. Thanks to their new direction, EA had the strongest showing at E3. This just drives the point home that EA is on track to being awesome again.

I agree EA has been getting better, looking forward to a update on Catch of the Day at some point.
It's so weird. When I play an EA game now, the logo will come up after putting the disc in and I'll cringe a little...and then I remember I don't have to cringe anymore. EA makes good games now.
That throws me off completely. Change is scary, especially when it happens in so short a time. I've gone from cringing when I buy an EA title (Burnout 3, for example) to treating them like any other publisher, as in their logo is an irrelevancy to get past in order to play the game. The Evil Empire is dead.

There was never an evil empire. It was just cool to hate them.
For good reason, though. They put out sheer generica and bought out creative companies to drain the soul from them for a quick buck.

Yeah, the slash and burn farming of developers was really infuriating. Releasing way too many sequels and dilluting their own properties was frustrating for those that actually liked them to begin with, too.

When EA bought Criterion I remember people saying it was only a bad thing. Given that developing games are getting so expensive and EA gives plenty of room for its developers to do their thing, I can only see it as a good thing.
