I know I was seeing how long I could egg him on about Mustangs.
It's slow, it handles like shit, it's interior was dog ass, and it's engine is vastly overrated.
BUT BIFF YOU CAN ADD MODS TO IT!!!!!!
After Ram air and a chip, all you can do is drop 3000 or more for any improvement.
The car sucked.
Not surprising.
944, 944 Turbo (951), and the 944 Turbo S (just a hotter motor, and the S designation was dropped in 89) all share the same fascia. You'll notice I was commenting on how much sharper I think that car is than the equivalent production year 911. I actually don't like any of the 911 fascias all that much up until the 996.Quote:

1st things first. Did you run it with the hood popped, and watch the engine? Closely. Thats the first thing you need to do...
I had a coolant hose break on me a few months ago, but from where I was looking at the leak I thought I had cracked the actual block. If that was the case, I was looking at having to get a new car. Turns out it was only a 250 dollar repair.
Until you see exactly the process of whats going on, your just gonna be making it worse by guessing.
2nd thing, er 2nd. This is the most important thing I can tell you. When your doing your actual repair, ANYTHING that looks too old to touch, probably is. This is the reason a dealership would turn you away. When a car gets that old, you could magnify the damage 10 fold by removing the wrong thing.
Be very careful.
You want my honest a opinion? I'll give it.
If you don't have a lift, bring it somewhere and get it put on one. Preferably a mom and pops that will let you into the shop. Have him diagnose it, pay him for it, then decide if you want to fix it. Even if you have to go to a dealership your under no obligation to fix it there, and if they are gonna turn it away, you can always just tell them its a project car your working on and you just want to get a diag from them. Sometimes they'll let you do it.
Not really, for a couple hundred bucks you can get a 351w which is a fairly simple bolt in for a 302 fox body. Then if you want you can do a cam/heads/carb package for well under 5 grand and if you do it right you should be around 400hp/ft lbs easy. Put that into an 89 stang it should haul some ass. Maybe 11s or better at the track? Better if you put some cash into the rear gears and tires. I can give you the interior or maybe the handling but old 5.0's weren't comparatively slow for the time and the 302w is very properly rated.
It's still not a car grownups want to be seen in. Teenagers and college kids are the only ones who should be rolling around in fox body mustangs.
