I have a feeling that a lot of the "Men wont grow up" feeling that is going around lately is coming from women finding a new way of saying "my boyfriend spends too much time on his xbox and not enough time discussing my feelings, reading the same "mature" books I do, and committing to me."
But yeah I think there is a greater amount of time spent away from marriage. Guys are benefiting from it and I think women are too. As long as kids arent born in single families then all is good.
I'm 22 and I work as a line cook for a living. I make $10.25 an hour and have been away from partial dependance on anyone for about...6 months now. I do not imagine myself ever moving back in with a parent or relative again. I have a brand new car, my own apartment and various other things with my lowly income. People who are close to 30 and don't have this (and probably with a better income) need to get moving on with their lives.
That being said, I'm currently attempting to get back into the US Marine Corps and will likely move into my girlfriends apartment for much cheaper then what I'm currently paying in the coming weeks. Even still, I'll still be paying my half and it won't be with my mom or dad. I may even get rid of my car and utilize public transportation. You just have to be effecient with how you spend your money and how it goes to the things that you need.
Fresh off of just turning 20 and quitting my first job, gonna attend UCLA this upcoming Fall and law school after that, and moving out hopefully before school starts (Sept 25th) = I love my life (mainly cause I'm still young)
As long as you're happy, wtf does it matter to anyone else? Just aim high and don't settle.
Truth...a lot of people lack the "aim" part though. Graduating college at 21-22 and not having any serious progression in your life 8 years later is not walking the right path.Quote:

I just do what I need to do because there isn't anyone who's going to take care of shit for me. I think people who live at home are probably lucky, but I personally could never go back to it.
I do get resentful that a lot of my friends are handed everything they have, but then again everything I have is always better, so working hard to get your own stuff definitely pays off!

I'm 26 years old turning 27 in 1 month and yes, i live at home. My reason isn't because i want to, but its b/c i have to. My mother is unemployed, she was physically and mentally abused by my good for nothing father so now with him out of the picture, her life seems better without all the yelling he use to do, but when she was workinng; she didn't make more than 11 dollars an hour at her last job. She's been out of work for 6 months, been on a few interviews and no one is calling her back for a job, so its been rough for the family; i have 2 younger siblings; 1 in high school, the other just graduated from community college and is having a hard time finding work.
So i take it as my responsibility to help my mom out with paying her rent which goes to the mortgage. Plus, she's always asking me for money to pay for bills like water, cable, electricity, food and all that other stuff. So what am i suppose to do in situations like this. Move out and let her go through tough times alone. Though she and i have our differences, she's still my mom. I would definately like to move out and be on my own, but right now isn't the right time.
You at least have a good reason.
