Once again we see why Stephen Harper told everyone but himself to shut up while campaigning. Lee Richardson, Calgary Centre, just forgot the golden rule of politics. Shut it.
"Look at who's committing these crimes ... They're not the kid that grew up next door,"
"Particularly in big cities, we've got people that have grown up in a different culture," he said.
"And they don't have the same background in terms of the stable communities we had 20, 30 years ago in our cities and don't have the same respect for authority or people's person or property."
Richardson later said he regretted his remarks and was referring to a "small minority" of people.
....
Obviously that small minority of people would be the brown people.
And the Conservatives wonder why they are having trouble connecting in big cities.
A number of candidates are have forgotten that golden rule. First of you have the self-hating gay Conservative candidate who wrote a fairly controversial blog against... um, gays. And the Liberal Dufferin-Caledon candidate who compared Harper to a nazi and said he's a narcissistic prig... or something in an online article.
The NDP are apparently reconsidering their vetting process. I can't say how, but I know firsthand an overhaul of the system is really needed.
So, who's voting for Kraft Dinner or whatever?
What the hell IS that, even?
What?
Canada!
DARGH! Walked right into that!

Harper got called out today for either plagiarizing a speech from former Australian PM John Howard or both PM's just got busted for using the same "speech" as provided by other "interested" parties.
harper without an original idea? well I never
Dion's "original idea's" are going to lead us straight in to a terrible budget deficit and horrible taxation laws that take more of everyone's money away from them even more than what daddy government's already taking (too much). Harper is a bit callous, but at least the Conservatives have proven they can manage money without raping the population.
Lets pretend for a second that I care about the environment. I don't, but humor me. This carbon tax proposed by Dion isn't going to solve anything, and it's going to make it (in theory) harder for small businesses to compete with established businesses, because important capital new businesses need to spend wisely will be reduced. What does McCain Foods care about paying 200,000 more a year on taxes? It'll probably be more of a pain for them to reduce their emissions. A BETTER plan is to save the environment by giving companies viable energy alternatives that are easy and convenient. A reduction in the amount of hydro needed to run their massive operations is reward enough, and maybe competition incentives would be a good idea (you know, doing the OPPOSITE of creating a new tax). A carbon tax does NOT do that. It simply makes money off of existing pollution. Again, the idea is to reduce the pollution not make a business out of it.
The carbon tax isn't Dion's idea -- it's popular with US politicians and Al Gore as well, but it's not a viable idea. I'd even argue it's a manipulative and idiotic idea. And the same reason why KYOTO is a dumb idea for any western nation to sign. (especially America)
