fuck.
It just means the TO explosion is coming that much quicker. He and Williams have been complaining about not seeing enough balls this year, now that they're on the same team that's not going to get better. Also, anything that makes the Cowboys run less hurts their team. This move will blow up.
Wrong!
If anything, it will stretch the opponents defense and they'll have to stop double teaming TO to keep the running game in check. You didn't see TO getting all of the double teams, when they had Terry Glenn jetting down the sidelines. Williams will do the same with his presence on the field.
Patrick Crayton could have been the man, but he's dropped too many sure passes and he was also the guy that dropped a key touchdown pass in last year's playoffs (and last weekend's game as well). He hasn't been the inside threat the Cowboys have needed and Austin will fit nicely in that 3rd receiver position.

Quote:
The Dallas Cowboys acquired wide receiver Roy Williams from the Detroit Lions on Tuesday.
The Cowboys will give up a first-round pick in 2009, plus a third- and sixth-rounder that year for Williams and a seventh-round pick in '09.
The Cowboys are also trying to negotitate a long-term deal with Williams before completing the deal. Williams has expressed unhappiness playing for the winless Lions and can become a free agent after the season unless the team places the franchise tag on him.
Cowboys got fucking ripped man, Jones must be very desperate.
LOL@ You calling Williams an "inside threat" or a deep threat... have you ever watched him play man? He alligator arms every pass thrown at him if a defender is within five yards of him and runs an incorrect route 7 out of every 10 times. You can easily blame 1/2 of Kitna's interceptions on Williams cutting a route 5 yards short.
Beanie Wells will be looking real good in a Lions jersey next year, and they'll get him considering they themselves will finish about 2-14 and I can't see the injury ravaged cowboys making the playoffs.
I never called him an inside threat.
I said Patrick Crayton was supposed to be our inside threat, but he drops too many passes. Miles Austin would become the slot reciever (I didn't realize Hurd is out) and Crayton can go polish footballs. Williams would slide into Crayton's spot and Austin would run the inside slot.
Yes, I've seen plenty of Williams. He's put his stamp on the Cowboy's secondary when we've played them.
Nice edit:
Williams will still only draw a single team, then he'll drop 5 passes in one game and Jerry Jones will be crying about giving up 3 fucking picks for him.
This trade is about a 1.0 out of 10. You're delusional if you think this guy will help Brad Johnson the next four weeks, and you're silly for not getting a Cornerback as that's what you really need.
*I didn't edit my comments on Williams. I did edit out Hurd from the post, because he's done for the season. *
Let's hear your suggestion for an all-star cornerback? .........Good luck with that!
You obviously haven't seen enough Cowboys games to realize that we've needed another receiver that is a considerable threat. Crayton drops too many passes, Austin has great hands, but he has 4.59 speed, and Hurd is out of commision.
I've seen plenty of Williams, dating back to his stellar perfomance playing at Texas. He's not a 4 catch a game reciever and if you look back at 2006, he's put up incredible numbers. The performance of Williams in 2007 and 2008 is not a viable indication of his will to play hard. I can't blame him for giving up on a losing team like Detroit.
Oh, and the reason Owens won't get double teamed as much, has little to do with Williams getting double teamed instead. It's about stretching a defence and then punishing them with the run and short passes down the middle. The free safety will then have to draw in to the middle of the field, or commit to the reciever. It opens up the playbook a whole lot more than what we've seen the past 3 weeks.

didn't see this one coming
He has money already, so unless he blew it all he might actually be doing this because he likes playing football.
So play this time
