Man, I wish SCUMMVM would incorporate the latest Munt stuff. It's a huge improvement over the daily builds.
Can you recommend a DOSBox frontend that won't make me want to kill myself? Do you even use a frontend?

I don't use a frontend. I set up .conf files that automatically start each individual game, and then make shortcuts to start DOSBox with that conf. Depending on the game, I use either the standard build (though only when the subsequent builds don't work), the SVN build that I linked above (my favourite build), or the megabuild that allows more video memory and RAM than the base version (useful for games like Timeshock that require ridiculous amounts of memory for the really high resolution modes. Ignore anything you've heard about the DOS version not supporting 1600x1200 - it does, if you have enough memory).
Way too much effort for shitty old games I've played a thousand times before.
A good MT-32 soundtrack is worth the trouble, for serious.

Tomorrow's release is such a secret that we don't even know what it is. But we can tell you this: http://t.co/Grj7aLpL

That wasn't actually a clue. We don't know what order this week's releases are in, so we decided to tweet something random. :P
MONKEY WITH SECRET. KIND OF. Man, if Lucasarts doesn't show up on GOG this year...
For the three of us that care, SCUMMVM's latest daily snapshot has finally rolled in the most recent Munt updates.
Well I'll be damned, that actually does sound pretty nice.
I consider Space Quest III unplayable without an MT-32. It's the difference between a fantastic soundtrack or just being stabbed in the ear with rusty daggers.
Stuff that supports a million midi standards, maybe Windows general midi or a good soundfont is fine, but for the older games, there's really no substitute, it's night and day.
Good news for Sierra games. But I've always thought that LucasArts games sounded best on adlib.
I play LucasArts games in General MIDI, which is fine. They're not as built for MT-32 specifically as the Sierra SCI0 stuff, which use tons of custom samples and can't replicate well with a generic soundfont.
So... what the fuck is up with the standalone MUNT driver? I want to take the new version for a spin with some X68000 games but the driver version hasn't been updated since 2005?
