Laptop!
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834115490
Can anyone find anything that doesn't seem like this is a fantastic laptop for the price? Because I'm really inclined to get this unless someone else can name a laptop near the same price range that you'd recommend over it.
I'm trying to get back into writing but writing sucks in just one spot. Also probably use it for WoW, Starcraft and other lan worthy games (I doubt it'd handle SC2 though :( )
So one with a better video card would be awesome, but I can't find any in the same price range with a great Video Card. ANd 3 gigs of ram is awesome.

If you really plan to bring your laptop to places with you then I wouldn't get this one. It's big. If you only want to use it sitting on the couch or various places around your home it looks good. The resolution is only 1280x800, which would bug me on a 15"er, although on something in that price range I'm not sure you'd be able to do better. My 13" laptop has the same screen real estate for example.
Acer makes a 14"er that you can find from $400-$450 that is more portable. My gf got that one a couple months ago and she likes it.

Some of that ram will be allocated to the video, so keep that in mind. If running Vista, it might be a deal breaker. Should be okay with XP. Personally I wouldn't get anything less than a 17" screen. Look for deals. My mom got an HP, 4 gig of ram, 17" screen, 250 gig HDD and a Mobile Athlon X2 and Vista Home Premium for $600 at Best Buy about 3 weeks ago.

Size doesn't bother me too much, but you are right about resolution, I may just hold off and keep looking for good deals. I should Check outpost.com as well and any other sites I can think of. I'd like it to be good for games too, max I'd probably spend is $700.

Just check slickdeals daily. You'll find a good deal within a couple weeks at most.

Hrm I'm looking at this one:

Sounds pretty solid for 700, though it doesn't have a weight I'd imagine a 17 inch laptop monitor would equate a heavier laptop. Also that radeon isn't a built in card is it? but it shares memory anyways?

So why the giant monitor? In situations where you'd ever need a large screen, just plug it into a real monitor instead of carrying this giant, heavy-ass thing around.

17 inches is bigger than I wanted, 15 is the ideal number especially with the same resolution. And I'd prefer 3 gigs of ram so I should probably just wait a bit, I'm getting impatient cause I'm having issues with my own computer.

Let's try and get your desktop issues resolved before you impulse buy a laptop. I pm'd you back but won't be able to reply until later tonight when I get back from a drag race in Ohio.

Tell us specifically what you want to use it for and where and we'll tell you what size screen to get. I'm guessing you don't have a laptop right now. When I got my first one I wanted a good sized screen, and I got a 15". It was a mistake. I never took the laptop anywhere, it was too big. Smaller = better, unless you seriously only want to use the laptop on the couch in your living room while you watch tv.
I'd look at this 13" dell. The resolution is the same as the others you're looking at, that's the only thing that matters about screen size. http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthr...81612&t=923303
