Dragons Lair/Space Ace on Blu-Ray

So yeah, I'm sitting here reading all of the glowing praise from the review sites about how these BluRay updates of the classic laserdisc titles are perfect and work brilliantly earlier in the week - but then when I actually go out and pick them up I've got massive issues with them that make the entire experience unplayable.

Anyone else run into stuff like chapters hanging, no image being displayed, etc - or is it just me? I'm rockin' a 60gb PS3 and the firmware is up to date as far as I know (unless there's been a brand new update in the last day or so), so I'm completely lost as to what's going on here. :P

From what I heard, the last PS3 firmware update is what broke both of those. No word on a fix.

Crap. I just threw both of these up on my Netflix queue. :(

Well, it's good to know that now not only do I have a 60gig PS2 with a few exclusive PS3 titles - but the loudly touted BluRay feature isn't even up to the standard of standalone players.

Standalone players have difficulty with it as well. It's a problem with the Blu-ray Java not being standardized.

Boy it sure is an awesome thing that Blu Ray won! I mean all the people saying that its non-standardized features and profiles would cause problems down the line were totally wrong! :rolleyes:

I'm glad somebody won so that I don't have to support two formats to buy all the movies I want to watch.

I'm happy just watching the mess unfold that I won't be joining for awhile. It's a bonus that I already have Space Ace and all three Dragon's Lair games on DVD.

Man, that's what I thought as well - then I saw the 1920x1080 videos of those same classics remastered and I damn near shat myself with nostalgic glee. Now I'm sitting here with discs that I can't play thanks to firmware updates.

Yeah, I've heard the blu-rays of those are absolutely amazing. Once I hear about them working properly on the PS3's I'll probably pick em up myself. I'm sure there'll be a fix eventually.
