His Mom Dies.
After hearing about all the trouble people were having with the WE, I checked my spam folder and found a cancellation notice from Digital River or whoever these people are... but apparently everyone has been getting these?
I can't believe that ordering from Namco Bandai directly is ghetto as fuck.
Same here! My order was cancelled!
I'm buying this shit used. Hell with these cocksuckers. Never again.
Yeah, same. I'm calling them to make sure, and if I don't get the WE I'll buy this used when the price plummets after it sells like shit.
Seriously.
"Hey, let's release this niche game on the runner-up console and then spit in our customers' faces. We'll make millions."
Thank you for ordering from Namco Bandai Games America on July 2, 2012. The following product(s) have shipped. If you paid by credit card, your credit card has now been charged.
suck it!
How about this instead: Good for you! I hope you enjoy it.
I'm only 17 minutes deep! We'll see what happens!
I got my confirmation email 3 minutes after the restock went up. If it sold out in 3 minutes, that would be pretty damn impressive seeing how it was up for like an hour.
I'm just messing around. I feel your pain. I hate when pre-orders don't work out.
Are you guys calling Namco or the # Compass gave? I used the # Compass gave this morning and had no trouble. Still waiting on the shipment confirmation.
This really sucks for Level 5 btw, they're getting screwed by Bandai as a publisher.
Since I am not retarded I'm calling the number Compass gave to talk to Digital River. Been following this whole debacle on Gaming Age all day.
WELP. MINE WAS CANCELLED. GOOD JOB GUYS. GREAT DEBACLE
Keep us posted, mzo. I'm calling them tomorrow. Got no time right now. S'fucking late.
LOL
IT'S BACK IN STOCK AT THE SITE
I almost can't even get mad at this.
So after getting my issue fixed with them this morning:
Guess I could just cut my losses and take the extra $20 and buy the normal version......Quote:
Dear Customer:

Just checked the Club Namco store, and sure enough the Wizard Edition is both IN STOCK and SOLD OUT!. I figure it's actually in a box with a flask of poison and a radioactive isotope. Right now the best hope of the Wizard Edition existing is to not observe it.

Schrödinger's Drippy?
http://store.namcobandaigames.com/promo/92178300 Schrödinger's indeed
This is much more reliable though- http://www.amazon.de/Ni-Kuni-K%C3%B6...9014594&sr=8-1
At least the digital river fuck ups won't have a charge sitting on your account if Amazon.de doesn't get enough to ship (and strangely enough it's slightly cheaper shipped...)
Also funny: Digital River also handles Square-Enix' online store. I ordered two games A MONTH AGO from them and still haven't received them.
What the fuck is with this company?
I'm a bad person who just got a confirmation from Digital River and Namco-Bandai on my Wizard Edition.
James
I don't trust them at all though! I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S REAL
I've got two separate e-mails here. One is a receipt from Digital River, and the second is an order confirmation from Namco-Bandai. It's possible this will end with a refund, but right now it's looking pretty good. I'd recommend giving it a second try, because the worst that can happen is nothing.
James
Go to the tracking section of UPS.com, click the link to track by reference number and enter your order number. If a label has been printed, you can get your tracking number.
My friend has his order cancelled as well. I don't, for a moment, believe that these guys didn't have a clue what was going on. As much as I'd be pissed with DR, some of the blame lies with Namco in selecting such a piss poor service for completing orders. I've heard nothing but bad about DR previously, and this just adds to it.
Sorry to hear everyone is getting boned.
Mine got canceled. I likely would have hawked it on eBay, anyway. Serves me right.
It looks like the people who paid for next day delivery are getting their shipping emails and cancellation emails a few minutes apart. I assume everyone here paid for slow shipping like I did? We might have to wait and see how it all shakes out.
The NNK FB page is so full of negativity now =[ This game doesn't deserve this bullshit at all.
It really doesn't.
For the few that didn't bother with the WE and are already playing, get your first merit card filled by doing side quests ASAP. One of the initial upgrades you can trade it in for is faster walking speed on the overworld. Makes life so much easier.
I'm about six hours in. Now that I have a second character (with their own familiars), it's becoming apparent just how awesome the battle system is.
Oh, and of course, IT'S SO PRETTY.
I wish I'd have ordered the Wizard's Edition, but I missed it. I did get the steelbook EB pre-order bonus, though. Maybe I'll grab the WE off eBay eventually and have both.
I'd rather have carcinoma of the penis than deal with all the bullshit people that ordered from Namco directly are going through right now.
The WE is going for absurd prices on eBay.
): i actually feel bad for the game and bad for Level 5 because they made something nice. I guess it's a good thing that Bamco severely underestimated demand even for the regular version, but man, this was handled terribly.
It looks like a lot of people are still getting shipping confirmations after the cancelation, so maybe yay? Stupid ass Digital River still needs a kick in the ass.
AND PEOPLE WHO PLACED THE ORDER THROUGH THE LINK I POSTED LAST NIGHT (which got taken down around 4 or 5am MST) ARE GETTING SHIPPING CONFIRMATIONS. BEFORE SOME OTHER PEOPLE WHO PRE-ORDERED IT me (O___________O) EXCUSE ME. HOW IS DIGITAL RIVER IN BUSINESS. STUPID FUCKING IDIOTS.
i found this on the neogaf boards and i think it is the most accurate representation

Most people buying this game don't give two craps about this. Collector nerds will hate it but who says they are interested in the game?
A month from now this will be a distant memory.
it won't
If that book is good, this becomes one of the best CEs ever. So yeah, I'd still be mad for sure.
The link Finch posted last night is amazing. I think it's a secret page that Digital River used to correct canceled purchases. You know, because their site is fucking awful it can't do stuff that every other site on the internet does. But I guess someone got the link and a lot of random people ordered copies instead. And some are even shipping now.
Also, the help desk has no way of knowing whether or not they've sent you an email when you call so some people were getting copies by lying about a cancellation email.
Christ, no way I'd ever pay that much for it. Maybe a little bit over retail but that's it.
I'm really enjoying the game so far, though. I've played this exclusively since Tuesday morning, which I normally don't do. Basically where I'm at is right after you go back to Motorville the first time.
Finally got around to registering my code that came with the guide, too. Time to see if this DLC familiar is worth a damn.
DAVID!
I got a cancellation email from namco and a refund. The dream is dead.
It was kind of expensive and I did completely miss out originally, so I'm not devastated or anything, but the whole thing was handled very poorly.
This is amazing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-NI-NO-KU...item4168f64f59
How did they get over 200 copies, anyway?
Scalpers, awesome. Love it.
I don't have a job right now anyway. This is for the best =[
Ed, let me hold your book once when you get it.
i posted it before, but http://www.amazon.de/Ni-Kuni-K%C3%B6...9072830&sr=8-1
It doesn't come with the coin, soundtrack, or the prints (.__. i wanted those...), but it has the book in English, which was the important part anyway, and the game has an English language option.
i trust amazon germany not to fuck it up... i trust you amazon germany. I think as long as they're not getting attacked by the US and Russia at the same time or having to sign some treaty in a train car, they'll be fine.
Meh. Kinda over the whole thing. I'll buy it used someday.
Cancelled, amazing since I ordered two minutes after going live. Was pretty eager to check out the book ( hell I have the DS version was going to screw around with it) but despite the link Finch provided this seems a epic fuck up for a major game company to pull so pass.
I'd like to see a game journalist look into the connection between Play Canada, DR and Namcobandai, there's an actual story.
Looks like mine is on it's way though.
I got a shipping notification with a tracking number. I can't believe that worked.
James
But who will hold my hand then?
Your mother.
:tu:
Everything about this game is so... pleasant. I've finished 2 merit cards, 2 bounty hunts and found all of the invisible treasures in the first world map area, and it never felt like a chore. Usually I tire of those types of things quickly. Haven't experience anything I don't like about this game yet. Making my way through Golden Grove now.
I feel bad for the hassle that a bunch of you are having to go through to get your copies of this. Hopefully it gets sorted out and those who are really wanting to play it can soon, it's one of the more engaging and engrossing games I've played in a long time. Got my second character and the ability to catch/train/morph familiars, and it's really opening up now. Haven't even turned on my Xbox but for Netflix since Tuesday.
How much was the German version shipped?
I wonder if they'll take my us amazon gift card.
$105. They knock off VAT so you're really paying less than actual Germans
That's what I thought, I've scored some sweet deals on blurays from Amazon UK for that reason but the real price doesn't show up until you've ordered.
My copy arrived! Perfect condition, nothing missing. I am so glad to be done with that awful company.
I have a familiar made out of bananas named Bendy (one of the suggested names, no less).
I'm traveling the world with Bendy and Mr. Drippy.
n__n~ kawaii~~~~
i hope i will be able to play this game next week!
Drippy is kind of awesome. In English I mean. I'm not switching!
Oh donk! http://www.destructoid.com/namco-ban...s-243211.phtml
I seriously didn't expect them to do anything and am okay with this. i'm not that into strategy guides, but this one is supposed to have concept art and interviews and crap. I'll take your "stop weh-wehing" offer, even though i was already done weh-wehing.Quote:
It is unfortunate that we are unable to produce additional Wizard’s Edition units to fulfill all the extra orders; with that in mind, Namco Bandai Games America will be giving the affected fans a 400 page hard bound copy of the Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch strategy guide which includes an exclusive code to unlock a Gold Hurly Familiar in the game in addition to the original $20 clubNamco voucher.

That's not a bad apology, really.
People are still going to bitch that it's not enough and make me a special Wizard's Edition or I'm going to organize a class action law suit SO HELP ME GOD NAMCO IS THE WORST COMPANY ON EARTH AND MY ENTIRE YEAR IS RUINED I HATE VIDEO GAMES
Hey, not bad.
Maybe I won't buy it used after all. I'll use their $20 gift voucher whenever it's available from their store again.
Yeah. I'll start crying when my shipment of Ni no Kuni: Der Fluch der weißen Königin is cancelled and Amazon.de takes the money and i can't ever get my refund because the assertiveness of their German staff will be too intimidating. "Vhy did jou order ze Deutschland vershun if jou are in ze United States? Can you speekenze Deutsch? No? Sorry, ve cannot help you." and i'll say "Danke..."
$20 is a good enough apology. I bought a tee shirt with it, I did.
http://store.namcobandaigames.com/st...=1359166405388
Man, I'm so happy about this as a response that I'm STILL going to call them just to say "Nice recovery. I was about to swear off you guys forever and you saved it. Good show."
I'll just ask for King Namco.
By the by, I called Digital River and got a supervisor to say he'll email me when they get back in stock and they'll help with shipping. let's see if THAT happens.
...or maybe I can use that $20 coupon on Tales of Graces f and buy Ni no Kuni NOW.
I'm almost 16 hours in and the game is still sending new stuff my way at a decent interval. Just about to get my third party member and a boat and set sail for new places, got the ability to craft items and weapons and all manner of stuff, so far have 24 familiars, and it's not slowing down at all. I've been consistently impressed with each new area, they feel fresh and interesting and provide new enemies/hunts/errands and I'm having a ball going through each of them.
The only thing that I haven't been the biggest fan of is how much the game holds your hand in certain areas. The combat itself can get tough when you're facing strong enemies, but outside of that the game works really hard to make sure you know just where to go and just what to do to progress. It works good to make sure things keep moving along at a nice pace, but takes away some of the wonder of figuring it out for yourself. Some errands and side quests still take a little while because they aren't really displayed on the map at all, but once you find the person or thing it is you're supposed to find, the game tells you just what spell to use or whatever else the case may be. Again, not a really big deal, as it still feels like it's early in the game, but I'll be interested to see if that tapers off at all as things move on.
Edit: Also, do not morph all your strong familiars at once or you will be woefully underpowered. And learn all the abilities you can at the level you're at before morphing them, I'm not sure if you can get the ones you would miss after morphing.
I really, really wish this game wasn't terrible.
Open your eyes, according to the rest of the world your wish has been granted!
Why can't battles just happen on the map? This game isn't on the DS anymore. These kinds of concessions don't have to be made. LETS DO IT WE WON LETS DO IT WE WON LETS DO IT WE WON.
Why do enemies who can no longer damage me chase me down? They eventually run away, sure, but the threshold is way off for this.
What's the point of being able to see enemies if most of them can't be avoided?
Why can't I quick save in a goddamn dungeon? These things are long.
Why are the affinity symbols so small? They're like 4 pixels x 4 pixels. My TV has a lot more pixels than a DS. Feel free to help yourselves to a few, Level 5!
Would it kill anyone to put an "E" next to equipped items at the "Sell" screen of a shop?
Worst dungeon map design since Grandia 1? Probably! Fushigi no Dungeon has better dungeon maps than this game. You know who designed the maps for that game? Nobody.
Lol.
In the sell screen it shows how many are equipped versus how many are in your bag. It's at the upper right IIRC. Otherwise, I got nothing, except this game is better than any JRPG I've played in a long, long time.
I like what I played so far but oh god the friendly AI is SO BAD.
Played the demo finally. Beautiful game, but does the combat get better? I'm not certain I'm really playing it right but I won.
Yes, it gets better than the demo. That's really just a taste of it, as you get more abilities and familiars and party members it opens up a lot, and changing the Tactics will be needed to keep your party in line, because as ep stated they're kind of dumb when it comes to certain things (using up all their mana REALLY fast and then forgetting how to use provisions to heal themselves, attaching with Esther LOL).
On a side note the rewards for the Merit Stamp Board gave me grief at first. The abilities open from the start didn't seem too great so I wanted to hold off and use my points to unlock the stuff that was blocked off with question marks, but come to find out those don't open until you've unlocked all the first level rewards. So by the time I got the boat I was able to unlock the ability to make it go faster, which opened up the second row of rewards, each that take 3 points to acquire. So yeah, unlock them in any order you want, you can't really speed up the process.
I've yet to fire up the game, but the book is really nice. I'm far from the first to ask, but why in Christ would Namco go through all the effort to translate this thing, and then print four of them.
If the WE was $200 on eBay I would consider it.
Maybe $250. Cheapest up is $350 and I'm trying to convince myself I can spend the money.
I need to walk away from this.
Pick out a good spot in your closet first.
If you spend $350 on this I will see if I still have your address, then ship myself to your house. Upon opening the box, I will first ask for a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios, and then after consuming the delicious part of a balanced breakfast, I will slap you upside your foolish empty skull for spending that much on the game.
Seriously fuck Namco. I drooled over a LE for a system I don't have and they wanted you to order six months out, order within one minute of the restock, or break into their store via a link someone sniffed up. Considering the number of people paying $400 there is plenty o money on the table.
YOU KNOW YOU WILL LOOK THROUGH THE BOOK ONCE AND THEN PUT IT IN YOUR CLOSET. JUST SAY NO TO LIMITED EDITIONS.
The book is really nice! One of the best special edition bonuses I've ever seen, and I usually avoid those things. But all of the book content is available in-game so it's not the end of the world if you miss out.
If the book is the same one as the in game book, which is fairly detailed and extensive, then yeah you can just read the whole thing at your leisure without worrying about papercuts!
But I like papercuts...
YOU WOULD.
No, I'm not really going to buy it.
But I wanted to!
Good. Since you have money to blow, can you get me a aes Metal Slug 3?
Just got my Wizard Edition delivered. People spending $400.00 on this are crazy. It's nice, and I'm happy to have it, but $100 is the maximum you should consider paying.
James
Unfuckingbelievable.
