Some of my older consoles have started acting up, and its time to find repairs.
Does anyone know of any people/services that repair old systems? I have a Jag CD and CD-i with faulty disc drives (won't spin). Also a broken Saturn and a faulty Turbo Duo.
It seems that the repair service at Retrogames is down (repair link 404s).
Any suggestions?

Chaos Control is one game that looks decent on it, sort of like Starblade/Galaxian 3. Here's a minute of the Japan-only Saturn port.
For Saturn emulation (I use SSF), you should have at least an Intel Core 2 Duo. My Pentium 4 chokes on games that play music from the Saturn sound chip (Soukyugurentai does this), or 3D graphics (Daytona CCE, Thunder Force V). The XPS 210 I got a few months ago can do SSF just fine, even if I run Camstudio in the background to record.
Some people prefer the actual hardware, me included. Emulation is a valuable tool, but I like hoarding cartridges and CDs!
I'd be interested in this as well. My Sega CD stopped reading discs a few months ago.
I booted up my Genesis for the first time in ages to play Thunder Force II. Between the RF connection and the shitty Genesis controller, I didn't get it. I just went back to playing it in Kega.
Emulation is the greatest thing on the planet. I could figure out how to get some RGB mod going and wire up a controller interface, or I could instead just, like, use shit that's already lying around.
Saturn emulation is a little slow for some, right now, but it's close enough to perfect. I'd imagine a year or so from now I'll have pretty easy ways to play my Saturn games without actually having to carry them around and use my Saturn, and lots of people can already do this.
I have my Genesis modded for s-video, so it looks great. When I'm lazy, I'll play on my Xbox in my game room or on my PC in the family room.

You can buy an external RGB-Component transcoder off of ebay for $60, get RGB SCART cables, and play almost all of the old systems in component without modding the systems. You have to perform a minor mod on the transcoder to get audio, but it only takes a couple of minutes of basic soldering. Most of the old systems are awesome in component. The Genesis and Neo Geo get the best boosts, since they have great RGB and really shitty composite.
I actually thought about selling component kits for old systems by putting together modded transcoders with RGB cables, but I figured I wouldn't be able to get enough cash to make it worth it.

The old systems still look like shit on an HDTV, even in component. It's just like running an emulator on a PC monitor. However, on a good component SDTV it is glorious.
Modding a Genesis for component won't make it not look like shit on an HDTV.
Old consoles are for SDTVs (or awesome upscaling), believe.
That's one reason to use emulators, you can tweak the video output to your heart's content.
Just replace the systems themselves. You'll fork over just as much to repair them, if your not doing the repairs yourself as would buying replacement system of ebay.

Also, all (or most) HDTVs have a 4:3 aspect ratio mode. Use that when you're playing your old systems on them. THey'll look fine. That's what I do for mine, and I have no complaints. They look like they should to me. It's when you stretch them and blow them up to fit on the big 16:9 screen that they look like shit.

I have a 32" (4:3) Sony Wega that I use for gaming. It supports 480i/480p/1080i/720 and most of my Saturn and 16-bit consoles look pretty good on it. There are times when words aren't quite as crisp as they are on a SD set, but it's not a consistant problem.

I don't think Daedalus Encounter came out for CD-i. Maybe you're thinking of the 3DO version.

then again, i also think recap is right about some things, so yeah.
If I gotta upscale, then it's software upscaling followed by bilinear filtering, with 25% opacity scanlines. But I recognize that's a little anal for most.
I'm also lag-paranoid, though. And the best way to get that awesome amount of lag that I can't immediately notice but get fucked by in the long run is to deinterlace, which every HDTV is going to be doing if you don't feed it 480p.
My Turbo Duo has had issues with sound going in and out, hoping it's just cables but I'll probably try a thorough cleaning of the ports and drive.
Buying systems with CD drives, especially more obscure ones is a gamble.
Low, a problem with the caps is causing the sound issue. All it takes is a few dollars and a bit of soldering to fix it : http://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/index.php?topic=960.0 .
