You are retarded. Have you seen Thomas' stats? I think up to last week he hadn't even lost 10 games. He may be at that now but he most certainly IS important to his team.
Printable View
Tim Thomas: 47 GP, 30W, 11L, .930 SV% and 2.12
Fernandez: 24 GP, 14W, 6L, .915 SV%, 2.39 GAA
And these were *a lot* closer than this for most of the season. Thomas has an excellent team in front of him, is 34 years old, and has been in the NHL for a whole 5 seasons and 212 games. Fernandez has actually played over 100+ more NHL games than Thomas has.
Thomas: 1430 SA/47 GP = 30 SA per game with the second highest goal support in the league (3.28 G/A).
I'll take Backstrom and his 31 wins with no offense or Lundqvist and his 32 wins with the league's worst offense as being more impressive than Thomas' 30W with the best support in the league outside of the Wings. He's no MVP.
I'm not saying he's not important, I was just naming four or five goalies that are MORE important to their teams.
Right. And now where is this year's Ottawa to knock them out in round 2? There isn't a team besides NJ who is even close to Ottawa's level of two years back. Plus, the Devils are a ton better than they were then. Hell, the whole division is minus the Isles.
I forgot to mention how glad I am that we've likely seen the last of Kevin Weekes in NJ. At least two of the four were on him tonight. And I never want to see that Laroux ref again. He wasn't biased -- just terrible. He called a women's basketball game.
The problem with your logic is that the Hart really isn't a measure of value, despite its intent. If it were, there is absolutely no way that you can explain Brodeur never winning it. There may have never been a more valuable player to his team ever. Part of that is the tradition of it going to a forward, there'll be a token goalie on the list this year since it's a two horse race. If it's a third forward, it'll be Iginla, since the west voters don't realize that 98.3% of the talent in the league is in the east.
Yeah. It wasn't much of a hangover effort, but the goaltending was poor and the Devils couldn't beat Ward when it mattered.
Allowing 4 goals was bad though. We got a bunch of pp chances too, but eh. The first PP we had in the third was brutal. I don't remember a shot on goal.
Ward can play, we all know that. It's the 'canes that can't play this year, and Ward's been very inconsistent. I hope they don't make the playoffs though.
The expansion of the NHL? Where do you want me to start, 1967?
I'm saying it hasn't mattered that the Devils finished first 50% of the time since the lockout. It hasn't. I'm not making a sweeping generalization about the NHL since expansion or the lockout, I'm making a factual statement about New Jersey since the lockout.
Like I said, I give them the best shot in the East but not NJ @50% and seven other teams combined at 50%. I'll take that bet any day of the week and I could care less what Vegas says.
Here are the East odds of winning the Cup from Yoshi's casino:
