NHL 2008-2009 Regular Season Thread

I have to imagine Philly will break through one of these games. Like I said, it's not like they're losing for lack of scoring. They had 20 goals through six games, just 28 goals against. The Devils may be the perfect team to break through against if they can continue to score...but the way the Devils have been controlling play lately I'm not so sure. Also, Marty's been great.

The Saturday game is the second of a back-to-back, is going to be early, and will probably see Weekes start. I'd put money on that being the first Flyer win.

The Devils MUST STAY OUT OF THE BOX better than they have been to take both games of the back-to-back.

Tonight I am going to be at a wedding so I won't have my good luck charms on me properly. I predict a loss.

The Rangers vault to 1st in the useless PPG stat, 1.5 to NJ's 1.4+. News at 11.

And the Devils continue to suck against their own division. 6 goals to a winless Philly team. LOL. Serves you right for throwing out goalie stats after 6 games.

I've moved up to a 3-0 (4-0 with pre-season) in-person record with tonight's win against the Sharks. My mission is clear: Attend every home game until the Panthers make the playoffs.

Read my earlier post. I called it. Also, Langenbrunner went down halfway through the third and Zubrus couldn't finish on like 9 chances, but that doesn't matter because we outplayed them solidly through two and the PP killed us.

Philly is going to score a lot of goals this year. 6-3 is an inflated scoreline because of the empty netter and because the 5th goal came after many minutes of Jersey pressing, and White is just a bum. It's really a 4-3 loss. Nothing after the fourth goal mattered.

Langenbrunner may play tomorrow, but here's the thing: Philly is for real in scoring. For real for real. Look at their goals for. It's not for lack of offense that they've been losing, it's their horrible defense...but Jersey has a pretty bad offense for all the puck possession they get. Oh wait, now I'm just a broken record saying the same thing I said before this game! NO SHITTY PENALTIES.

Brodeur is starting again tomorrow. I expect a similar scoreline, maybe a 4-2 loss. HOWEVER, I couldn't watch this game live because I was at a wedding, and therefore my lucky charms were not in place. Tomorrow I will be there by gametime, maybe it will make the difference. The two losses have both been games that did not have the lucky charms properly set. :P

I didn't say Brodeur gave up six, I said the Devils gave up 6 and EN goals *DO* count.

In any event, 53 consecutive starts for a 36 year old goalie is just beyond fucking stupid.
