This is the best thing ever.
Yeah, the Lightning are one of the best drawing Southern teams in the league. Against the Red Wings the other night they drew 20,000. Granted thats the former Stanley Cup winner, but I doubt that happens in Miami or Atlanta.
Dyne: That song is awesome!
Wild are back on top of the division, despite playing at least 2 or 3 games less than everyone else. Shootout win over Columbus, who for whatever reason, we have always had problems with.
Also, holy shit Boston, 10-3-4??
Yup. I saw some power rankings the other day.
1. San Jose
2. Chicago
3. Boston
were the top 3.
We always seem to have trouble with Columbus as well.
Thats the TSN rankings right? I suppose those maybe the best to take, but everywhere else as of 11/10 has you guys either 5, 8, or 10. We float around 10-12 on all of them, but that was after we got shut out by 'Couver, since then we shutout Phoenix 4-0, and beat Columbus last night, and got two of our injured players back. We better move up! Being beneath Ottawa makes no sense to me!
Chicago might deserve to be 3. Not good enough defense, both in ga/g and shots against/g (over thirty), though the g/g and 5 on 5 numbers have been solid. They can really fucking score.
They scored 5 more against SJ tonight (thankfully my debate with myself about Nabokov didn't matter, he didn't play) but lost.
SJ has not been super impressive defensively either. In fact their numbers are very comparable to Chicago's in all categories, except they average around 26 shots against/game. Both SJ and Chi are in the top 12 in GA/G though, so maybe I'm being too harsh. A lot of Chicago's games have been OTL's (5), so they've been close, but they have a significantly worse record against better teams while SJS just beats everyone.
7-4-5 isn't really great, but OTL's count for a ridiculous amount. I think they really don't deserve to be 3, I think they are inflated.
Their 7 wins are against:
Phoenix
Vancouver
St. Louis
Edmonton
Dallas
Colorado
Calgary
Five of those teams are ranked 18 or lower in ga/g (Dallas and Calgary being 2 of the worst 3 in the league)
if TSN is weighting offensive potency above defense I'd still put Detroit or even Pittsburgh above them.
I've only watched 4 Hawks games so far, but I'm trying to keep an eye on them.
That SJS loss was our first regulation loss.
These TSN.ca rankings are weird, I don't really get it. New ones came out today with Chicago dropping to 8, and the Wild moving up to 6, and some teams dropping off altogethor. Like the dumpy Senators that were ranked above us last week, are somewhere below 15 now. Whatever.
Any "Power Rankings" that put Dallas behind the Islanders is instantly bunk, IMHO (at #30, no less).
