I'm down for the XBLA remake and a 3D sequel ala BC.
I don't mind having Strider go 3d but I don't like the idea of a DMC-ish game. There are enough 3d action games in the beat 'em up/adventure style. Something more platform-focused would be cooler.

Shit, for as good as Fantasy Zone II DX is, and what I hear about Gradius Rebirth, a CPS-style Strider would be awesome. Doubt that's really where they're going, though.
I wouldn't be surprised to see this come to fruition. Strider was probably bigger than Bionic Commando.

I don't think Capcom has the designers or developers capable of making a Strider update that does justice to the original game (or Cannon Dancer). But it's nice that Capcom hasn't forgotten about the Strider IP.. I guess.

I liked Cannon Dancer way more than Strider 2, but I'm cautiously optimistic that Capcom can still do the original game justice.

When Capcom lent the Strider franchise out, a total clusterfuck resulted. *cough* Journey From Darkness (I refuse to call that a Strider game). I don't want some outside developer turning this into JFD2.
I don't trust Backbone with this either. Let someone like SFIV's Dimps or Arc System Works do it instead, with Capcom Japan keeping a pointblank watch on things. I was kind of disappointed in 1942 Joint Strike, after being spoiled by 19XX (which I'm sure will remain the best one in the series- FOREVER). Commando 3 was sort of OK but not awesome, and the Johnny Bravo artstyle doesn't fit well. The thought of seeing Strider drawn like that is revolting.

Ever since playing BC: Rearmed, I thought Strider would be perfect for that kind of revamp - either the original or the PSOne Strider II would work well like that.
Take Ninja Gaiden, put in a camera that actually works, add Strider Hiryu...and you have an instant hit.
I'll also gladly take a Strider "rearmed" as well.
I trust Capcom's ablity to revive old classics better than Sega- just watch the new Golden Axe fail.
I wouldn't take GRIN being able to do a good remake as evidence that the whole of Capcom is proficient at it. BC Rearmed wasn't even really Capcom's idea in the first place, it was a labor of love from the devs of the new BC (which in itself was sort of begrudgingly greenlit from Capcom's Japan branch).
I wouldn't be surprised if BCR's amazing sales had Capcom Japan scrambling to duplicate the feat.
Find somebody who loves Strider as much as Ben Judd loves BC and we're set. Again, as long as they don't give it to a shitty developer like Backbone, I have faith in this. I haven't got my hands on SF4 yet, but I'm confident that it's a good product and MM9 rocked me pretty hard. Until they give me a good reason to believe they're going to start fucking up again, I'm pretty much digging the Capcom of today.Quote:

The way Capcom did 1942 and Mercs on the 360 is NOT how I want a new Strider. And the way they did MM9 is also not how I want a new Strider. The way they did BC would be just fine, but in a perfect world they'd make it Princess Crown / Odin Sphere level 2D (which is how I wanted MM9) or do SFIV style 2.5D
