Epic Games and EA Fight Used Game Sales

Honestly, that shit used to bother me when I was anal about collecting games, but come on. Most of us are grownups now. A GameStop sticker on the front of a $20 DS game isn't really the worst thing that you can have happen. Other than the games I really love, most of them are getting sold or traded to other people when I'm done anyway. I can understand if you get a copy that's beaten up and covered with scratches or whatever, but (way) more often than not that's not the case.

Plus when a buddy of mine worked at GameStop we got to play the guts he borrowed, and I certainly didn't mind it then.

This is about where I am, too. The stickers come off relatively easy anyway, and since I usually wait until a game hits the sub-$30 range before buying it, I've given up my right to bitch about that kind of thing.

Stickers on the discs themselves still bother me, though. They can fuck with the balance of the discs which can lead to disc read errors. Peeling them off isn't a great idea either as my unusable copy of Devil May Cry 3 will tell you should pass it on the streets of Rhode Island.

When I bought my first new car, it had less than 1 mile on the odometer. It literally came off the truck and I test drove it and then bought it.

Anyway, GS employees can borrow any new (or used) game and play it. As far as I am concerned, if it is opened, it is not new, thus, same as used. Not that I really give a fuck unless it is a gift.

Yeah, that kinda shit is in "beaten up" territory, but I've never seen anything like that sold as "new" or even used outside of rental stores anyway.

lol wouldn't a sticker on the disc throw off the center of balance and potentially cause the thing to get ripped to shreds in the drive?

The more I read this, the more I realize while EA & Epic have an interesting way to combat people from buying software used they're still missing one major point of it.

Make games that people want to keep the 1st time and this won't be as big as a problem as they're making it out to be.

Yeah, Blockbuster used to put stickers on their discs and it would screw everything up.
