I was all FUCK SKYRIM, IMMA PLAY ZELDA FOR A WHILE. I think I'm very close to the first real dungeon now. After the initial disappointing screenshots, I haven't seen a bit of media so this has been fun. Disjointed impressions follow:
The art style still disappoints after Wind Waker. I'm not sure how they could have avoided this since Wind Waker is one of the best looking games ever but here we are. It's a lot lot better looking than Twilight Princess at least! Great animation on just about everything too.
The lack of voice acting is getting distracting. Which isn't to say I'm averse to lots of text! After all, Planescape - Torment is <3<3<3. But it just seems strange to have these nicely animated characters just standing around while a slowwwwwww text box appears.
The sword fighting is actually interesting and I was surprised to see early enemies taking off entire hearts with attacks. I was down to a single heart for a few seconds which is more than I can say for a Zelda game in ages!
The world is very linear so far but I'll withold judgement until later since I hear it opens up after the first dungeon.
I hope to god that full on waggle games like this don't catch on since I just don't like having to move so much for EVERYTHING but this has still been fun.
edit: OH RIGHT, it has some IMUSE action. There are at least five drastic music shifts going on in the Bazaar. I loveeeeee that stuff.
My copy will be here tomorrow and, as I implied on one of the podcasts, I'll be playing it right away. At least Thanksgiving is good for something.
There are others playing it, they are just too ashamed to talk about it.
I played it by tying the wiimote to my dick.
I pre-ordered this from Amazon, but for some reason, my copy isn't coming until tomorrow :(
I'm playing it, but with my work schedule I really only have time to game on the weekends, so I'm only just past the first dungeon. Loving the sword stuff though, works quite well.
I received an e-mail on 11/22/11 telling me Skyward Sword was only $69.96. I wonder if Amazon saved me that three cents just to make a palindrome?
I've been too busy playing to talk about it!
