If there's something else to it (i.e., a scandal or family crisis), I can understand her stepping down. But if she's doing it for no other reason than to focus on running for president, well, that's pretty stupid.
"I'm the current governor of Alaska, my approval rating is through the roof in my state, and I'm running for president."
vs.
"I quit being Governor of Alaska before my first term was even up, haven't held any sort of office in the past three years, and I'm running for president."
It might be true that Barry did little more as a Senator than campaign for the presidency, but at least he knew enough to hold on to the fucking seat. And I know I'm talking about this for much longer than is really warranted, but I just can't wrap my head around this. I really is a bone-headed move of the highest order.
Holy fuck.
Well yeah, dude, 15 ethics investigations later she realized she'd have to either fly straight or keep rolling the bones and risk prosecution. She opted not to play the game anymore.
No, squall, you isn't that bads.
The Vanity Fair piece on Sarah Palin offers an interesting glimpse into how it was like dealing with Palin in the campaign (spoiler: not a fun time). The still continuing bickering among those who worked on the McCain/Palin campaign reveals that McCain should not have picked Palin as his running mate.
From the hip:
Palin =/= Veronica Corningstone (Anchorman). Faced with the heat of being a big dog in a man's world, she's taking her ball and running home. Her defenders will try to blame the "man's world" rules (MSM unfair; etc). A curious tack for conservatives. Her detractors will slam her for proving the axiom that women can't hang w/the men true. Salon will go wild with this scenario. Stamp it.
Prediction: 2+ years of campaigning against bailout/socialism/"Barry" (lol @ squall, you joke). Attempt to beef-up policy knowledge. Tons of fundraisers for RNC/conservative causes, and R's. Lots of campaign stops (a la Rudy) to try and stay relevant.
Can someone who voted for her ticket pls step up and admit that, knowing what we know now (quitter), it would have been irresponsible for her to have been Veep?
Just about the worst place in that entire post for a typo. Fuck me running.
I think it's too early too say, though as the TNL Resident Palin Defender, it's hard to defend this recent move based on how it looks at the moment. Maybe it's part of some brilliant political reinvention that will ultimately pay huge dividends. Crazier things have happened. But it certainly doesn't appear that way right now.
This woman is literally stupid and makes me sad that the very idea would even be an option for our populace.
I can't wait till I move to Iceland.
