Ugh, just saw Perry announce his retarded flat tax that isn't really a flat tax plan. 20% with a few simple deductions, whole thing fits on a postcard, typical right wing, shift the tax burden to the poor bullshit, right? Only, you can choose to file under the existing tax code. So it's not so much a flat tax as a tax cap - the rich will benefit from reduced taxes, but the poor and middle class will continue to file under the old system (well, mostly - no doubt some will be swindled by the lure of the new plan's simplicity), thereby not picking up the slack, so the end result is drastically reduced revenue. In other words, "starve the beast" radicalism at its worst.

Some of the Top .01% would still file under the current plan because a flat 20% is actually an increase.

It's all relative. As a society we've agreed that "Christianity, Judaism, and Muslim" are the acceptable forms of crazy.

To take one of those and pile a completely provable case of fraud on top - then proclaim it as the word of god - is the kind of cognitive madness I don't want involved in my governance.

It's easier to forgive those who will buy a story behind the shroud of a thousand-plus years to cast doubt than it is those who would follow a known, convicted con-man who existed in fairly recent history.

Santorum lost Iowa by 8 votes!? Man, I really hope he gets the nomination.

I was expecting Romney to win easily, I was not expecting Santorum and Paul being so close. This is getting interesting.

It's really not. Santorum (lol) and Paul are both non-starters who have no chance to win the nomination.

This is actually great news for Romney, because it shows the other people who the Republican elite would accept as nominee (Perry and maybe Gingrich) are irrelevant. Romney has this locked up.
