What does this matter in a discussion on world power and influence?

We were discussing docs concern on western civilization. I emplied that was overstated, in part because western culture still holds the Lions share of art and entertainment influence.

Yes, I suppose calling your Korean dramas garbage in comparison was inflammatory, but they kind of are by raw impact.

But I also considered India south Korea and Japan to be western. They are their own thing but so is England. But they are very westernized for asia.

Maybe doc can take solus in knowing the us will live on in every successful and happy people after us in much the same way Rome lives on in any modern country with a central government. America has had an almost irreversible impact on how people vew entertainment and industry.

To your weird point, there's enough media out there that in the case of the US's sudden absence, the vacuum would be filled very very quickly. Every single country has 24 hour television with original content and bookstores full of books; theatrical 'blockbuster' movies are an aberration but even those could find a replacement.

Type 'Russian movies' into Google and you'll get a perfectly good rundown of the last twenty years of crossover successes, there's a great deal more produced for domestic audiences that don't leave Russia.

You just don't see that in Russia and china.. It mostly sits in their own country. They watch many of our movies for example but which of theirs have we bothered with?

Shower is a (wonderful) Chinese movie, but that and King of Masks are probably the only not Kung Fu flicks I've seen. To be fair, I don't really know where to look. Happening on a documentary about Chinese rock and roll was an accident.
