I think part of the problem is that the boomers over compensated for how worthless they felt compared to the generation that fought ww2. They were born into a world of "heros" A world that was mastering the atom for great power.

So they trumpeted up their own achievements to make themselves feel better.

And then we were born into a world where all of them are talking about how great they were and yet we dont.

We have computers better then anything nasa had for putting people on the moon. We are lowering crime faster than anyone ever. We hold more wealth than any people ever. We are sequencing our own dna. We can print anything from legs to guns. The list goes on.

Maybe we just got bad at telling ourselves our stuff is good too. Or the internet creates so much white noise that the good things get lost in the mix.

That actually made me feel better. I'm going to go crush some puss, now. (^～^)

Elon Musk tho. (I do have severely mixed feelings about ceding our space program to the private sector - the future should look like Star Trek, not Alien - and it's a real bummer that he seems to be having to start from scratch rather than pick up where NASA left off, but at least somebody's doing something.)
