While I wasn't a fan of Trump, I really feel like a lot of the negative things being said about him could also apply to Clinton. It's not like we had a choice between a white hat and a black hat and voted for the bad guy. They're both bad. A lot of the people I know that voted Trump did so because his bad guyness, politically, was steeped in possibility while Clinton's is very much established. And like Diff pointed out, the left saying "If you're not voting Dem, you must be a racist balh blah blah" really was a source of motivation to otherwise apathetic voters that otherwise may have stayed home yesterday.
Contrary to what the religious folks in my facebook feed seemed to think, I did not vote Clinton because I'm for babies at the 8 1/2 month term being ripped apart and pulled out of the mother's womb. It made me mad to have my values boiled down to one part of her platform, and it got me to vote when I had never done so before. That street goes both ways.
