Oh, I wouldn't call this literal Hitler. Not within the least. There was one literal Hitler, and it was Hitler. I didn't think GWB was Hitler, and I don't think Trump is Hitler. I'm sure he'll create his own little pocket of history that leaves plenty of people worse off in its wake: as all presidents do. But the healthcare and economy stuff is real. I have said time and time again today: we in CA are pretty secure as a whole (thanks, tech!,) as is NY, but the rest of the country should be more worried right now. No one, not Obama, not Trump, not Jesus is going to magically make jobs and job security come back to the USA. People need to come to terms with the fact they either need to adapt their job skill set, move to an area that accommodates them. No voting in any direction will help those who refuse to adapt.

I do think people need to protect themselves right now (legally, bodily, if this means arming themselves, so be it) because there is very real tension and people are lashing out on both sides. And, yes, I've seen the video of the poor little old man getting beat up by the mean old black men. This is a very real, very legitimate reaction and we will only see more of it - again, on both sides.

Dude praised Planned Parenthood during a Republican primary debate. The result? He ate Ted Cruz's lunch when it came to the evangelical vote.

He will give them nothing, and they will like it.

Trump will do whatever he has to do to keep his base fat and happy. His VP is a bible-thumping weirdo, and he's surrounding himself with a bunch of has-been Republican insiders (despite pledging to "drain the swamp"). Coupled with the shit he said on the campaign trail, the fears some people have are justified.

I'm going to have popcorn ready for Inauguration Day, that's for fucking sure.

Many people aren't—already the "America failed women" crowd are coming out. If you voted for Trump you're a sexist, or racist. It couldn't be you had little choice because he was the only one who said he'd help you (and reaffirmed it in his very humble award speech—"The forgotten will be forgotten no more").

Trump's general stance on the economy has almost always been to tax foreign countries and force their hand at opening their markets to American business and investment. The picture used in "famed" People Magazine quote where he says Republicans will vote for any liar (which was a hoax)—was actually from an Oprah appearance. He stated very clearly that he feels foreign powers are taking advantage of the vast wealth and authority of the United States system. America loves capitalism... and has welcomed foreign business with open arms. This is actually very true. His examples of countries taking but not giving were Japan and Saudi—where Japanese automakers are selling their cars over here, but the US getting your cars over there is a difficult, cumbersome and an almost implausible proposition. They're xenophobic. He even states "It's not illegal... it's just almost impossible socially". He believes if the US military is protecting someone (like South Korea) then they aught to pony up on some of the expense. Another example he used was (I think?) Saudi Arabia peddling their oil over here when we can't even breach their markets at all.

How much of this could he actually do? Is this even a policy? I don't know. But he feels America is far too generous, without receiving a return on that.

One of my friends (in Canada even!) that supports Trump thinks the left is selfish. He wishes Trump wouldn't be racist and would leave social issues like gay marriage alone. But he looks at Iraq, Iran and Syria and thinks how can you be so selfish. You want gay marriage, and you want trans people in washrooms and these are your big social issues. Not people's homes, neighbourhoods, countries being blown to bits recklessly by bombs with American flags branded in to them. Where is the social outrage for the kids washing up on beaches? The best liberals can do is allow refugee's in. But as a more conservative person they see this as not solving the problem in the first place. There's a lot of this sentiment going around, too.
