You're American, eat the whole bag. It's what George Washington, Superman and God would want.

What a bizarre election. Even Karl Rove doesn't like the DoJ and FBI's involvement in the election.
He shouldn't. Anyone up on the slightest bit of our history knows the FBI aren't exactly the smoothest operators (may have been brought up in this thread) but think of the political capital they are holding. If they collude with the DoJ that makes it even worse.
I've been following American elections since 92. This is the wackiest shit I have ever seen. I remember losing my shit at a party when I found out Jeb Bush was pulling out of the primaries. Nothing makes sense. Nothing.
I may have already posted this but you only recently came back: The wife and I did a Niagara trip over the summer and it was so funny watching the locals hesitate about whether to ask us.
Finally, a sommelier at one of the vineyards we visited was like, "I don't want to ruin your day but ..." I was like, "No worries. We're filthy liberals." We had a fun chat about it and he expressed the same sort of sentiment you did.
You fuckers have 11 week long elections. I'm so jealous. And five parties, right?
Only four main parties, and of those four, only three are truly national parties (Parti Quebecois is dedicated to making Quebec a sovereign nation).
I'm telling you guys, if you voted 3rd party, we wouldn't be going through this shit, but the two parties treat the American voter like a husband who beats his wife and we love it.
Obama-Trump Voters
Quote:
Meg Amamolo, 57, voted for Mr. Obama in 2008 and 2012, and was excited, as a black woman, to vote to put a black man in the White House. But she grew especially frustrated in 2012 when Mr. Obama weighed in on the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, who was shot by a neighborhood watch volunteer in Sanford, Fla. “If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon,” Mr. Obama said.
While many praised Mr. Obama for sympathizing with the teenager’s family, Ms. Amamolo thought the president was unfairly taking sides and signaling to her sons that they would face discrimination because they are black.
“It became all about making the young black boys realize that the country doesn’t want them,” she said. “Black Americans, they are being made victims by the Democrats so they can get the votes, but nothing is changing.”
Idiotic.
I really don't subscribe to this line of thinking. You got black people dying for just being black and pointing it out is "identity politics"? Would she prefer the Republican way of pretending it didn't happen? Or saying the issue is way overblown? There is no real answer to institutional and systemic racism right now in the current system.
Who is dying just for being black?
Trayvon Martin didn't die for being black he died because he started a fight with a guy with a gun.
Identity politics is about labeling people and putting them into boxes based on the color of their skin, gender, who they like to fuck, etc. current left wing ideology says that anyone who isn't a white male is an oppressed victim.
I'm... not going to get into this.
You did get into it.
Look, the point is that people disagree. Even black people. Not every black person has to have the exact same view on the situation. It doesn't make them a traitor or an idiot, just someone who disagrees.
Well, that's what the evidence and the courts said happened. Nobody is saying it's a good thing.
Blah.
I wonder how many write-in votes Theo Epstein will get.
Her point is that although the Democrats are supposed to be supporting them, they aren't actually doing jack.
This "While many praised Mr. Obama for sympathizing with the teenager’s family, Ms. Amamolo thought the president was unfairly taking sides and signaling to her sons that they would face discrimination because they are black." Means that, huh? Maybe if you're tinfoil.
Her point is that she doesn't want her sons to have a victim complex just because of their skin color.
That doesn't mean she hasn't talked to them about the difficulties of being black in this country.
These are two different things IMO. Victims are absolutely real and the racial imbalance in America is real and there is an operationally real threat these groups face. That has to be championed all the way at the top from our leaders. What ARE Democrats doing for her other than sympathy?
But this is different – victimhood isn't something to strive for. People shouldn't be defined by that. Right now it's popular to play up anyone who isn't white as victims almost as their core identity. A mother wanting her sons to be more than just victims because of their skin colour is excellent parenting.
The FBI is now investigating itself over the two recent tweets from the dormant FBI Vaults account.

It tickles me than most of the world secretly sees themselves as Americans.
I don't think it's that simple. Canada sure as shit wouldn't be as smug as it is without gun loving warrior asshole buddy living in our basement that's for sure.
A lot of Canadian liberal politics loves immigration (I do too) and abhores the America treatment of Mexicans would change their tune in a heartbeat if we weren't isolated by two massive oceans and the US.
Trump or Hillary being president-elect effects us as much as our own PM.
Justin Cuckdeau
That's sorta where I was going with that—that's what's idiotic—but realized I was just kicking a beehive.
As a black guy who hears and sees racial discrimination regularly shrugged off, or not acknowledged, I can't wrap my head around "the politics of victimhood." I'm not saying the Democrats are blameless here, I just... man oh man. What a problem.
You mean the Coastal north.
That's true, the midwest-north is racist as all hell.
It's a glass is half-racist kind of thing. That's why marketing is so important in politics and how the "news" became advertising for the two parties. There are multiple factors to every political issue and if you focus on one, you can ignore the others, and avoid fixing the problem all together, while courting all who like that factor and demonizing those who don't.

Ack! Someone thought Cathy should be a super hero.
Fuck that.
Fuck it right in its fat ass.
I don't really get why people concern themselves with strangers' fitness in the first place. Who cares if someone's fat?
I won't say that every fat person demands special treatment at my job, but everyone demanding special treatment is fat.
It's normal enough. We're an obese nation. And it might be corollary to health problems, but not to the extent that you have any real reason to believe someone is less healthy because they're 40 lbs heavier than someone else.
Women in particular do take a good bit of abuse if they're overweight, and a lot of it gets justified as "well it's unhealthy" when no one cares about your health in any other regard.
We are an obese nation, but do you think humanity is an obese species? Of course not. Americans are obese because they have an obese diet.
One thing we found out when the PPACA passed was that Americans seem to be far sicker than we thought. If you don't think that has any link to our massive obesity problem, I don't know what to tell you.
Childhood obesity is especially horrifying, since people are setting up these kids for a lifetime of problems.
Because fat people is the last segment of humanity you're allowed to shame and make fun of. We're the Nazis of the modern age.
As a fat person, it really sucks that every other segment of the population gets a pass for its unhealthy lifestyle because of "it's a disease" or "it's a manufactured addiction that companies have worked to increase," yet even though plenty of studies have shown both to be true for fatties- we still get nothing but jokes and bullshit. Or what "help" is out there has a vested interest in keeping you seesawing because people that can maintain their weight won't need to pay for the service anymore.
I agree that there are a lot of unhealthy people walking around that make poor decisions yet don't get made fun of because they aren't obese.
However, I still don't know how so much of the country can be that way. It's actually very uncomfortable to move around...you just get kind of used to it. And then you lose the weight and wonder how the hell you managed to walk around in the first place.
And I think 90% of obese people can lose significant weight. I just made that number up, but I believe it.
What am I supposed to take from it? Are you saying most people can't control their weight within reason?
Whaddaya think, Doc?

Obviously there are structural forces st play. I'm not totally blaming fat people for their situation just as I don't totally blame homeowners who got into some shit in 2008. And I'm not singling out people in particular.
It's the normalization of it that bothers me. Like we are throwing up our hands and giving up instead of trying to fix all the problems that led to it.
On all fairness, sugar is just as addictive as any other drug. I love that shit. If there are donuts at work I'll fucking eat 6 of them, but I won't let myself buy donuts and take them home. I used to weigh 220 pounds, and I don't feel like doing that to myself again. I'm 170 now, and it's more than I'd like.
Having a job where I walk 10 miles a day certainly helps, as does relying on public transit. I totally understand how if you're very fat losing weight can seem hopeless, but that doesn't mean it's impossible.
Because we can't sustain food sources for our over population*. Obesity is a disease of the 1st world privileged.

Like that 400+ lb. Whitney Way Thore clod who insists that you can be "fat and fit." Meanwhile, she's starting up diabetes, vomiting repeatedly when attempting to walk a 5K, passing out and going to the hospital while attempting to dance, and arguably weighs more than she did when she started her shitty reality TV show/quest to lose weight three seasons ago.
I couldn't care less if someone is fat and no one certainly deserves to be shamed for it, but I do mind when people like Thore demand special treatment and/or attempt to peddle their warped ideology to other people.
that's just dangerous and that's one reason people stay significantly overweight
It takes time, but nobody wants to wait. Instant gratification.
There is the possibility that all the hormones pumped into animals may be making people fat.
Americans are fat because of the economics of food.
I can get up from my desk and walk 1 minute and for a dollar get an assortment of sugary or salty baked goods and soft drinks. At best I could get a diet coke.
I can go to mcdonalds and get 2 triple cheeseburgers for 5 bucks. Or I can fatty it up and get a bag of powdered donuts for 1.25
Cheap. Ready to eat. Sugary. Tasty
Or I guess I can pay 7.50 for a salad. 12.50 if I want to get the chicken Ceasar salad with cheese.
Or worst of all, pay 75 dollars for a weeks worth of veggies that will ruin in a couple of days that I have to take out time to cook. If I add in meats to grill or bake, again spoilage and daily prep time.
Or I could spend 1.55 on a pack of cookies and inhale that.
yep, healthy food harder to come by, that's huge
It isn't hard per se. It is just more expensive and troublesome.
I can drive 10 minutes and get fresh veggies. Then spend at least 15 minutes or longer prepping the.
Or you know, walk a minute and eat tasty garbage.
No, it's not hard like aerospace engineering is hard
but it's harder than 'go to any of the other 99 out of 100 places, none of which have healthy options'
so I don't totally blame the public, they're misled, the diet industry misleads, etc etc...however almost anyone that says that losing weight is a herculean task probably has less perspective
It's really easy to batch cook all your meals on your day off.
Not when you're on 16s
Get up on 22s, son.
A lot more people live near places that stock fresh vegetables than you think. The DOA's "food desert" thing is overstated.
The car thing is real though they could probably get a ride or carpool.
Or buy cookies from the one stop with 1/5th the effort or time.
What about the bus?
not everywhere has a bus
Don't forget the reason the garbage food is so cheap in the first place - it's all sweetened and preserved with high-fructose corn syrup, which is orders of magnitude cheaper than real sugar because of the massive corn surplus created by federal farm subsidies. The government is taxing us to pay for the privilege of experiencing the economic situation you describe.
You can put nearly all of your blame on this man.

Fuck that guy sounds like a monster.
Do grocery stores in the 'burbs have substantial fresh fruit and vege sections? I've only ever been in US cities and assumed fresh food was missing because of convenience. Or do you guys have "green grocers" or is fresh food good in delis?
Fucking Whole Foods is the worst though, lets replace 20 aisles of packaged process crap with 20 aisles of packaged gluten free processed crap.
eh, you can buy a lot of fresh shit at walmart
Suburban grocery stores everywhere Ive been have a produce section of varying quality.
Ya'll tricks don't have Trader Joes?
how pedestrian
